Junior Caminero on today’s #HRDerby in Philadelphia, where he has the second-best odds of winning after finishing runner-up last year.
“We’ve gotta go there and have fun,” Caminero said yesterday, “but we’ve gotta go there and win it.”
He practiced for the derby several times over the last week (some video from Saturday below) with #Rays assistant Tomas Francisco, who will be throwing to him tonight.
“We’ve got to…not think a lot,” Cami said of his chat with Tomas. “Just swing like regular BP. Now (with the new format), you have more time to reset the swing.“
Caminero’s goal hasn’t changed since he became the first to enter his name into the Derby field: “Championship.”

I don’t think people understand the return this would take. I’d be Soto level.

Nick Martinez had a planned trip to Disney World with his daughters over the All-Star break. Well, Mickey Mouse will have to wait, because the #Rays veteran and the fam are headed to Philadelphia for the Midsummer Classic. More on Nick’s first All-Star nod 👇🏻
Another day, another HR for Junior Caminero. It's back-to-back games with an opposite field shot. 28th HR of the season and it travels 385 FT at 102.3 MPH. He's such a special talent.
