@TedPillows Based on what $/kWh and what ASIC joules/Thash. There is missing information here. The cost of electricity isn't an comparable metric without that information.
@caprioleio@token2049 A quantum computer can't crack something without data to work with. My basic understanding is that transactions with no history have never posted their public key, without that there is no way to derive a private key. This is quantum cryptography 101.
@DoraDallas6@Rainmaker1973 They have a 25 year lifespan, 40 years if you push it. Fortunately the silicon, glass and aluminum in solar panels are able to be recycled again and again! The power to create the solar panel takes about 18 months or less for it to produce. So all in all it's a win win.
@Design4ox@elonmusk Wow, all these people that claim to be experts on the research they have done. You would have found fossil fuel extraction is still more damaging than battery mineral mining and the batteries are infinitely recyclable. Charge from solar, oil, wind, gas, hydro, nuke or coal!
@SwirvithanLG@_Investinq Solar is not stupid, best decision I ever made. When I installed my system the cost of solar was $2/watt just for the panels and $6/watt for the whole system. Today that figure is closer to $0.36/watt for the panels and $3.50/watt for the whole system. Subsidies no longer needed.
@ow That Speedtest result doesn't look right. No Starlink currently for sale ever exceeded 35 Mbps upload. Starlink Mini is also limited to 100 Mbps download according to Elon Musk and the capacity specifications on the Starlink website. Am I missing something?
@MarioNawfal@elonmusk The speeds are inaccurate, but Starlink Mini is still incredible. The Mini is limited to 100 Mbps download according to their own website and even a prior Speedtest cited by Elon Musk. I am not sure of the max upload capability. The aforementioned Speedtest was 11.5 Mbps upload.
@jeriellsworth Reminds me of those "portable" Kay Pro systems that had the keyboard that strapped to the front and you could lug the whole thing around like an overweight suitcase.
@__tinygrad__ Your way off on your budget. Figure $1/watt for just electrical build out. I run Sunbreak Electronics and we have 3MW, saved every possible penny and still spent more than your anticipating and we didn't even have to build the building.
