Shout out to the @RENGA_inc community and @DirtyRobotWorks for grinding out an ugly transition during a bear market. Vibes are back, the art is still dope AF

On this World Mental Health Day, I want to share some stories that have profoundly shaped my journey, both for better and for worse. And I'd like to reflect on a question I often encounter: "How are you so happy all the time?" The truth is, I am not. I honestly don’t know how I am still here. Sometimes I think about if I would be better off not existing, but then I remember that my wife loves me, I have some good IRL friends, and I wouldn’t want to leave my dogs. I always look happy because I want others to be happy. I have realized that spreading happiness, kindness, and compassion is literally the only way to make this hellish world a better place.
My mother passed away from cancer when I was 9, and my childhood memories are fragmentary, as my brain has shielded me from painful memories. Sometimes I will gain back random memories like a claw machine picking them up. The last thing I remember of my mom was when I was sitting against the wall in a hospital room, and she turned and smiled at me. I felt the love from her heart.
At 16, I lost my father to a sudden heart attack. I vividly remember our last exchange, an "I love you" as he left for work. I went to school, then I went to Karate, and then I decided to go to get Chinese food. When I got home, I found him unconscious on the floor face down. I rolled him over and gave him CPR. My friend called 911, and I ran up to my neighbor’s house because I had no idea what to do. If I hadn’t done all of those things, I may have saved him if I had gotten home earlier. I always think about that.
My best friend from college had mental health problems that he didn’t want to get addressed and self-medicated with all kinds of drugs. There was an instance at my apartment when he thought I was Mr Smith from The Matrix, while under the influence of multiple drugs. He eventually pulled a gun on me and told me he knew everything I was thinking. Eventually, my wife and I got out of our apartment, I told him I was going to get a charger from my car. A SWAT team came and got him, and brought him to the hospital. His dad came and picked him up and and basically said he’d be fine, took him home, and neglected me asking to get him help. He was home for a year festering in his own mind. Then, the same situation happened with his cousin and his friend, but he ended up shooting and killing his cousin because he thought he was possessed. He’s now locked up for 23 years. Here is a news article about it. https://t.co/pE4iptLZAU
A few years ago I got married to my wonderful wife. We had a lovely wedding in the Philippines. But then covid hit and my wife’s father-in-law got sick with Steven Johnson Syndrome. They were stuck in the Philippines because the airports were shut down. Eventually, they were able to get a medical flight, but before the airplane took off, it exploded, and there were no survivors. Here is the article to it. https://t.co/QpG25RSkcP
I honestly don’t know how I am still here. I compare myself to others daily, not on purpose, it is part of my mental disorders that I struggle with, which is a mixture of depression, anxiety, and ADHD. I call it a big ball of f***.
I want you to realize that everyone is unique, not just based on what they like and what their names are, etc, but their brain chemistry and how they function are ALL different. The development of our minds is as unique as our fingerprints. I want you to understand that if something works for you, or you perceive something as easy, or you did something a certain way, that other person’s brain is not your brain. Respect that.
I'm leaving tomorrow to go on my first vacation with my husband IN YEARS.
Usually, when I have time off, I'm just lazing about the house by myself, disconnecting, playing video games, eating KitKats and drinking wine or whiskey, because our schedules are polar opposites of one another.
THIS TIME... we're going to Colorado for a week to visit spoopy hotels, touch trees, breath higher-elevation air, and like... do cheesy couple shit.
I'm excited. 💕
THAT BEING SAID... you know the drill. If you DM me and I don't respond... it's not that I don't love you. I'm just touching grass. And trees. And maybe snow. (Is it snowing there yet?)
Your best bet for a faster response is to:
a) Open a ticket with a mod in Discord
b) DM @DemAzuki
c) DM @RiceRiddler
I'll be back, ready to rock with you all again on the 23rd!
Be good bbs and don't do anything I wouldn't do. 😈
