The only real privacy coin is the only coin not mooning because crypto people that suddenly seem to be fixated on privacy are too stupid to be able to buy it cause it’s not on any centralized exchanges because it’s banned due to it actually functioning properly as a privacy coin.
Alts are not small cap stocks. They are failed currencies like the Zimbabwean dollar.
Young men glued to their screens wait for the briefest flashes to make their fortunes.
Don’t be that man. Remember why you hold the hardest currency on earth.
It's estimated that ~200 million people own bitcoin.
There are 48 million addresses with over $1 in BTC.
Self custody users tend to have multiple addresses.
It's reasonable to conclude that over 90% of Bitcoiners are at risk of being rugged by trusted third parties.
If the USD inflated 50% every year, but everyone's share of the total supply remained constant, then 50% inflation wouldn't matter
If the USD *deflated* 50% every year, but everyone's share of the..........same result.
The issue with inflation is that it's never proportional to everyone's share of the supply, so there are many losers, and a single central entity (the government) that benefits.
Let's imagine the government started deflating the USD (burning/shredding/deleting/etc.) through the following means:
* Gov raise taxes
* The extra additional income in burned
* Gov's budget remains the same
* Each individual citizen has to pay more
Then the proportions change *to the same effect* as if the Gov inflated the USD.
The citizens get screwed.
ETH staking is similar.
The stakers have to do very little work to maintain their *percentage* of the total supply, but more fees from people using the currency get burned.
The people using it lose, and those who have control over the supply (and thus the protocol) grow their influence over the entire system.
Comparing that to Bitcoin's built in block subsidy is not the same.
It’s hard to imagine, but just a couple of years ago, the #Bitcoin landscape looked very different.
Back then, #btc was trading at 20k and its hashrate was 95% lower than today.
It had no legal tender status anywhere in the world and was not yet accepted on the Tesla balance sheet or any other major platform.
As far as software upgrades went, the lightning network and Taproot were not yet available.
The biggest #Bitcoin market was in China, and there were only one third as many users as today.
Bitcoin inflation rate was twice as high, and there were no ETFs, no Paypal/Cashapp/Nostr/strike adoption/, and no Coinbase IPO. Etc.
It’s remarkable to consider how far btc has gone globally in such a short period of time.
Just a few years ago, the idea that Bitcoin could achieve the kind of success it has today was a distant dream.
Today, #bitcoin is a household name and has seen an explosion of interest from major institutions and investors.
@Saylor, who has become one of the most significant figures in the space, was nowhere to be found back then.
Also, many different narratives have arrived that have put a breath of fresh air. One of them has been "SOFTWAR" by @JasonPLowery , a theory presented to the President of the United States, the Secretary of Defense, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff about the national strategic significance of Bitcoin.
#Bitcoin has also infiltrated politics, with many senators supporting its protection by passing important bills, such as one by @CynthiaMLummis
Others working on bitcoin, such as @Dennis_Porter_ and many others, are working to ensure that energy use associated with Bitcoin is done responsibly and sustainably.
The evolution of Bitcoin over the past five years has been remarkable and the price is only 24k. 🤯🧡
The security provided by 1 confirmation in Bitcoin's blockchain actually varies over time as a result of different factors. My latest article explores how to calculate double spend risk for confirmed transactions and provides a tool to make it easier. https://t.co/JUFgl4V6dM
@tony_huszar I ask you to research what the alternative to bitcoin is on the darknet. Should tell you everything about LEO's ability to shut crypto down.
MicroStrategy has increased its #Bitcoin Holdings by ~2,500 #BTC. As of 12/27/22 @MicroStrategy holds ~132,500 bitcoin acquired for ~$4.03 billion at an average price of ~$30,397 per bitcoin. $MSTR
