DO NOT invite me to housewarming parties, weddings, baby showers, graduations, etc... if you don’t include me in cookouts, coffee breaks, movie dates, girls night or any other gatherings. it’s so offensive to think someone wants to dish out money on your life milestones without actually including them in your life progressions.
You cannot be friends with someone who is not in the same wavelength, mindset, or lifestyle as you. Friendship needs alignment.
People who have not attained a certain level of self-awareness or discipline will often become uncomfortable in the presence of someone who has.
No matter how much grace, compassion, or patience you extend to such people, they will eventually feel threatened by the parts of you that remind them of what they have not become.
Instead of being inspired, they become confronted by their own shortcomings. And when that happens, two things often occur:
They will try to pull you down to their level to justify their inadequacies, or slowly buildup envy and resentment towards you. This is why outgrowing people is sometimes necessary; not out of pride, but out of self-preservation.
Not being able to appreciate silence and unstimulated time alone is the sign that you don't have much ongoing in your mind; otherwise, you would understand that these are gifts for your creative output.
If it drains you, it's not for you. Family, friends, co-workers, and acquaintances included. What's meant for you will nourish you and energize you, not drain you. That's how you know.
Many people think that constantly being busy means that they are living a meaningful life, they are very proud of it, until they finally take a break, spend some time alone to self-reflect deeply for the first time in their adult life, and realize how much more there is to life.
