[FULL STATEMENT] Official Statement from Gold Medalist

1. As the management agency representing actor #KimSoohyun, Gold Medalist has filed a legal complaint against Kim Seui, the operator of the YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute (hereinafter ‘Gaseyeon’), for violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (distribution of filmed materials using cameras, etc.).

The complaint also includes the unidentified person claiming to be the aunt of the late actress Kim Saeron, as well as the late actress’s family members who provided Kim Seui with a photograph of Kim Soohyun, in which he was filmed without pants, leading to its publication during a live broadcast on the Gaseyeon YouTube channel.

2. As we previously stated, Gold Medalist deeply mourns the passing of the late actress Kim Saeron, who was once part of our agency, and we grieve for her loss. However, the photo of actor Kim Soohyun that Gaseyeon published was taken during his relationship with the late Kim Saeron, who was an adult at the time.

The image includes a depiction of Kim Soohyun’s body that could cause him emotional distress and should never have been made public under any circumstances. Posting such a photo on a YouTube channel is a clear criminal act.

Furthermore, Gaseyeon has been using this image to threaten Kim Soohyun by stating that they will continue to release similar photos. Due to the severity of this situation, Gold Medalist has no choice but to take strong legal action. The act of distributing or publicly displaying images that could provoke sexual embarrassment or discomfort, without the consent of the person in the image, is a serious crime. We strongly urge that such violations do not continue.

3. Additionally, the false claims spread by the late Kim Saeron’s family and Gaseyeon through their broadcasts have been rapidly circulating online, further fueling baseless rumors.

Out of respect for the late Kim Saeron, Gold Medalist has refrained from taking legal action against her family. However, the unauthorized distribution of a private photo of Kim Soohyun is a severe violation that cannot be overlooked, and there is a high risk that similar incidents may occur again.

Therefore, we have been compelled to file a legal complaint against the late Kim Saeron’s family members as well. If they and Gaseyeon continue to spread false information, Gold Medalist will have no choice but to take full-scale legal action to protect the reputation of both our agency and our actor.
