This is how much Wang Wang loved humans. She trusted us with all her heart, and we failed her miserably. During the hour long torture, she didn’t bare her teeth even once. She was just genuinely confused, frightened, and worried for her babies. She couldn’t understand what she did to deserve this. And the fact is, she didn’t deserve this at all. No living being deserves this.

And to all the people still going around leaving comments like “it’s just a dog, what’s the big deal” - I feel sad for how pathetic you are. You’re delusional if you think a government that can’t be bothered to lift a finger to protect the weak will ever give a damn about you.

I thought death was the end of the story. #justiceforwangwang When I heard the video say, "It's already dead, yet you still whip it," my tears fell again. I don't understand, what did a life do wrong? It was hurt while alive, and after leaving this world, it still can't be treated well. It couldn't speak, couldn't resist, couldn't beg for mercy. The moment it closed its eyes, it knew nothing anymore. But we know. We know what it endured, and we know that someone could continue to harm a body that is no longer alive. What frightens me most is not cruelty, but the numbness to cruelty. If a child is indifferent to a dead life, then what we should worry about is not just Wangwang, but what kind of people our next generation is being raised to be. Many people ask me why I've cried for so many days? Because what pains me is not just a dog, but that we are slowly losing our most basic reverence for life. Death should be the end, not the beginning of another act of harm. May we teach our children not how to become strong, but how to be kind; not how to conquer life, but how to respect life. Because a civilized society is not judged by how we treat the strong, but by how we treat the weak who will never harm us.

We NEED to demand that these brands and companies cut manufacturing or supply chain ties in Jieyang and specify that it's because of Wang Wang and her puppies brutal murder in that region, and the total lack of criminalisation or punishment for animal cruelty.

If a brand makes those last two statements, then we HAVE to ensure that we make their response made widely public, disseminate that the brand is perfectly fine with manufacturing their goods in a region that allows animal cruelty to go unpunished, and keep the spotlight on their statement in a sustained campaign of pressure until they budge! We must also boycott those companies that refuse to shift their manufacturing or supply-chains out of Jieyang!

We MUST continue to do so until:

1. Justice is served for Wang Wang and her puppies and the perpetrators face a PROPER criminal sentence

2. Keep pushing to exert influence on China's government itself to implement animal anti-cruelty laws and CRIMINALISE animal cruelty!

I BELIEVE we can achieve this through a mixture of sustained, continued pressure and boycotting Chinese, specifically Jieyang Region products!

Let's spread awareness and take material action on what happened to Wang Wang and her puppies! We want to make sure this never happens again, and if it does, that it doesn't go unpunished! There MUST be a criminal deterrence!

Let's keep pushing until China enshrines animal welfare laws for ALL the animals in it! If China can extend protection laws to pandas and red pandas, its national animals, it can do so for cats, dogs and every other animal in China too!

Always remember: Money talks, but not spending money positively screams in someone's ear!
