The student-teacher ratio for a general teacher is one teacher for 30-40 children, so one special teacher should be appointed for every 10 children. So it's beyond comprehension how ordinary teachers will handle it.

Only 386 special teachers have been appointed to teach 47979 disabled children, whereas one teacher should be appointed for every 10 children.

ਆਰਟੀਈ ਐਕਟ 2022 ਵਿੱਚ ਸੋਧ ਹੋਏ ਢਾਈ ਸਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸਮਾਂ ਬੀਤ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਅਪੰਗ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਮੁੱਢਲੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਚਿੰਤਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।

Lack of teachers in #Punjab for Children with Special needs (CWSN)

The Right of Children to free and compulsory Education Act (RTE) mandates that there should be at least one special education teacher for every 10 students with disabilities enrolled (at primary level from class 1 to 5) and for classes 6 to 8, there should be at least one teacher for 15 students with disabilities. However, state data reveals that a total of 44,604 children with disabilities enrolled in government schools, there are only 279 special educators.

I had a word with the Berozgaar Vishesh Sikhya Adhyaapak Union President Harrish Dutt who says the situation is worse in the border district "where each special educator is handling over 300 students."
The affidavit filed by Punjab Govt in SC reveals there are 3911 vacant posts & two year time was taken to fulfill the posts. However, no progress has been made till today says Harrish Dutt.

The Punjab government is violating the education rights of disabled children!
Only 18 special teachers appointed to teach 2568 disabled children enrolled in JALANDHAR Govt. schools. Student /Teacher ratio in district one special teacher appointed behind 142 disabled children.
