@WarksCyclist Don’t attack drivers overtaking on the other side of the road, you’re feeding the entitled cyclist narrative & making it more dangerous for the rest of us. Plenty of dangerous drivers out there, this is a thoughtful overtake on a straight road. If only cycle lanes were this wide!
@LiveableWells@clairekholland @RezinaChowdhury @SadiqKhan@willnorman Would benefit from a zebra crossing like they did on Boundaries Road in Balham where that roundabout used to be; otherwise it’s doing what an important London distributor road should do
@MalcolmClark77 options for point 1? I can only think direct car traffic round back of Lidl car park, any priority measures will cause gridlock back at Streatham Hill - love to hear a solution for that section. Until youve implemented one, time to pause the failed LTN.
@londonbeyond123 @MalcolmClark77 I commute by bike, and drive electric (acknowledge tyre pollution still an issue!). This one’s not helping pollution though if people can’t rely on the buses.
@MalcolmClark77 It’s almost funny, divert cars to the high footfall, high street, with transport hubs at both ends, shops etc & the buses down Valley Road. You couldn’t make it up. The government needs to legislate to remove the power from local authorities to make traffic orders.
@jonburkeUK@mrmarcusuk Not a bypass, this LTN forces people who have no need to drive on SHR on it. This one hasn’t worked. Every area is unique & experimental traffic orders should be just that - experimental. Focus on the cycleway and other levers to make changes here.
@MalcolmClark77 Talk to some traffic modellers at TFL not this analysis, they’ll likely tell you that Gleneldon took traffic North to Tooting & Balham - now sat nav routes North bound traffic past St Andrews school and u-turn outside Tescos at peak times - good outcome?
@MalcolmClark77@aidan_in_sw16@lambeth_council@TfL Please Malcolm help us stop this LTN, anyone can see it’s not working. Just open Valley Road for starters, release the pressure on the busses. And let residents drive from their homes without having to go on SHR.
@streatham_life@jonbromwich@Martin_Abrams@TfL Pause SW LTN, create cycling infrastructure, wait for change of behaviour, consider additional chg. These roadworks, with active LTN will be used as excuse for congestion, to validate the LTN when/if we get to the 18 mth decision. £400k fines before Christmas.
@Martin_Abrams There have always been incidents, but if you block EVERY OTHER POSSIBLE route with an LTN (and force everyone who lives in Streatham Wells to exit to the high road even when going the opposite direction), then root cause = LTN
@Martin_Abrams Pause the LTN now. We’ve had enough time to see it does not work. Not every LTN will work every time. Pause it, model the traffic, work out a different plan. You cannot destroy the bus system like this @TfL
@MalcolmClark77 Wow, according to Google the population of Streatham Wells just 10k, it’s obscene, research shows that people don’t understand the no motor vehicle sign. More could could be done, paint road/ barriers etc, gov should stop councils taking the fines & see if they still want LTNs
