@ByJoshCarney The soft zone coverages really stunted our pass rush. The very few times Burrow had to hold the ball, we got pressure, mainly in the 4th. The defense reminded me of their defense from their first matchup last year.
@KTSmithFootball Last week against Atlanta seemed different despite the lack of production. This week was far more predictable. Running/throwing short on 1st. Seemed like every 2nd down was a run for no gain. Then we were in 3rd and long. It was the same recipe last year. And the year before.
@DrewHannis He’s also been a successful offensive mind in the league for over a decade, which is what Steelers fans wanted. Just because he’s older doesn’t mean he’s the same. The biggest thing for him is to find a DC who can maximize his group, because McCarthy will handle the offense.
@KTSmithFFSN What’s the window for those young OC’s and DC’s to become a HC here though? Because it only takes a good year or two for them to get poached. And I can’t see a world where McCarthy would coach for that little amount of time before leaving. Not with this franchise.
@tjmcaulay So if the QB was a blocker on the play, this would constitute targeting? Because you can argue he is blowing up a block by him. In that case, there’s a lot of targeting happening every play.
@DomDiTommaso The mentality of the GM now compared to Colbert has completely flipped. This team is aggressive in getting players. It’s just the age and style of players, which is what fit Tomlin’s style. A younger HC can have an effect on the youth in the room. Drafts have been great.
@tsnmike And if you only watched that game and not Steelers football for the last 9 seasons, you’d realize why we came to that conclusion. 9 years nowadays is a long time for HCs. That wasn’t even for half his tenure. And we saw how it was the first ten years vs the last 9.
@joefrk@ChanJamesB I’d also take winning too, where you can have an offense who can score off of 3 Houston turnovers. Both sides of the ball could not be figured out at the same time. And it’s been an issue for over a decade beginning with the Killer B’s. There was plenty of time to fix it.
@AGretz Cowher missed the playoffs 3 years in a row after winning many games, then turned his team around and made it back to above average play. Tomlin had his team at the same level for the first 10 years. I don’t see a scenario where they wouldn’t let the coaching try to figure it out
@Patrickqueen_ People will have their criticisms of them, but to be rivals with the two longest tenured coaches in the NFL of 18 and 19 years have been fun to watch. Hopefully you’re still in the Burgh for a new coaching rivalry!
@jack_sperry Hopefully he has learned from his mistakes in Miami on what it means to be a leader. I like that he’s been in Pittsburgh before, then to a stable organization in Minnesota. It’s not a bad choice at all if he improved himself.
