Compare Al Jazeeras report on Israel bombing a school & burning people alive (using actual footage) with Sky News reporting the same story (no footage & lots of time spent on the IDFs justification for the attack).
A newborn baby and a child were injured in one of the ongoing Israeli airstrikes in northern Gaza.
It’s been 19 months of this and I have no more words left to even try to explain to this world what’s happening in Palestine.
Pfizer’s cancer drug commercial was beautiful, but their breast cancer drug Ibrance costs $10k per month and their prostate cancer drug Xtandi costs $22k per month.
Beautiful commercials don’t change the fact that 42% of cancer patients exhaust their life savings in 2 years.
Congress is about to vote to send nearly $1,000,000,000,000 for weapons and war when the Pentagon just failed its 7th audit in a row.
But what's even more disturbing is that many of my colleagues own stock in defense contractors and benefit financially.
My dad battled prostate cancer, and UnitedHealthcare denied him experimental treatments that might have saved his life. I don’t have sympathy for that CEO because there was none for my father, who fought to the very end and lost his battle with cancer. Fuck that CEO
Yea that sucks. You know what else sucks? The kids who had to watch their parents suffer from a terminal illness because United denied life saving treatment.
the way we're socialized to see violence only as interpersonal—not see state violence (policies that create poverty/kill), structural violence, institutional violence—is very deliberate. same w/ panics about ~shoplifting~ vs how much corporations steal from every single one of us
@itsbighonkin After watching my dad spend the last two years on this earth working in order to afford necessary cancer treatments that were denied by United Healthcare… I’m the opposite of upset. I feel like wherever my dad is, he’s smiling :) justice.
My sister has stage 4 cancer. The amount of time and anguish caused by fighting her insurance company to pay for the treatment it is supposed to cover is unconscionable. People who get rich off of denying care to the sick and dying deserve no sympathy.
@JulieNelsonKARE His company denied my dad’s cancer treatments. For 2 years he suffered & worked to afford his treatments. My mother lost her husband & everything they worked for in retirement. At least they didn’t have to watch him slowly die & then financially support their mother.
United Healthcare denied my father’s cancer treatments as “experimental” — they wanted him to die, and he did. His last few years on earth were spent suffering & working to afford to live. My mother lost her retirement and her husband. No thoughts or prayers here.
Happy birthday to activist and chairman of the Black Panther Party Fred Hampton.
He was assassinated by Chicago police and the FBI at just 21 years old.
William O'Neal, an FBI informant, infiltrated the Black Panthers and set up Fred Hampton for $300.
