@TexansCommenter After listening to DeMeco at the podium today, we got a LOT of “nothing answers”, it was very disappointing. It’s almost starting to sound like shifting blame and incompetence
Post-Game Win Expectancy, Week 4
DAL – HOU was a straight toss‑up at 50/50 by the numbers, but HOU took the loss. They’re now sitting at 2.55 expected wins… and 0 actual wins - just brutal.
@TexansCommenter I thought CJ has performed very well despite our losses and despite our OC. The offense might not be as productive as people want, but the passing game is solid. CJs doing much better than what our record and scoring says
@TexansCommenter Genuine question: what happens if the Texans lose to Dallas and start 0-4? Is the entire offensive coaching staff on the hot seat? Are there mid season changes to coaching? Do we tell Stroud good luck in FA? Is Caseiro on the hot seat?
@TexansCommenter I’m tired of the offense. I don’t know what the solution is, I’m assuming the scheme is the issue. But I want a change. We can’t keep being a slow uninviting offense
@TexansCommenter “Nick Caley” and “great job” don’t really go together in the same sentence. 14 attempts and 18 yards for our RBs… in NO WAY can a coach say “good job” with that
@TexansCommenter A lot of running up the middle into the nameplates of the OL for the Texans. watching our run game Sunday was like watching birds run into glass windows but repeating it 20 times
@TexansCommenter I’m frustrated that DeMeco came from a successful 49ers team, yet is choosing, or maybe forced, to install an early 2010’s patriot offense. Genuinely if the O scheme is different, the team would thrive.
@TexansCommenter Is the WR room to blame as much as the offensive scheme and personel choices by the OC? I have a really hard time believing Boutte and Noel aren’t capable of stepping up. Hutchinson on the other hand had multiple shots against the Bengals and dropped them
I’m concerned hearing DeMeco say the “key to victory was controlling this front” and seemingly framing the OL’s struggles as not “outworking” Cincinnati’s DL.
I understand wanting your guys to win those battles. But if the takeaway is primarily about effort instead of recognizing a matchup disadvantage and finding schematic answers for it, that concerns me.
You have to be realistic about what you have. Great coaches find ways to mitigate weaknesses and put their players in better positions.
Did Buffalo come into Houston saying they were just going to outwork WAJ and Danielle Hunter? Or did they chip, use heavy personnel, move the pocket, use play action and change up protections to help neutralize them?
Sometimes “we just have to outwork them” isn’t the answer. Sometimes the answer has to be a better plan.
Stressan.
@TexansCommenter Of the options: Nick Caserio. But that then trickles into DeMeco. There is no reason that after 3 SEASONS and 3 playoff wins that this OL has not improved at all. Zero. It’s all on the front office and coaching staff. I don’t blame the players, there’s a coaching/philosophy issue
@TexansCommenter We need a new offensive scheme completely. The “patriot offense” simply does not produce. The offensive line does not click for multiple series in a row. People need to be fired and replaced (not DeMeco or Matt Burk).
Time for a philosophy change with the O as a whole.
