I’ve never understood why someone would join a political party if they don’t want that party to stand candidates in elections.
At least with @SDPhq, our members want us on the ballot. They want us to grow, to compete, and they’re ready for the attention that comes with it.
If you want a party that actually stands up and stands for democracy, join us.

Yesterday I spoke up in Full Council because protecting vulnerable children in our city must come first.
Our amendment called for council to lobby Government for:
🔹Real local democratic control
🔹 Stronger powers for planning teams to verify info
🔹 A ban on approving any children’s home linked to anyone ever convicted of a sexual offence.
These aren’t politics — they’re basic safeguarding.
We’ll keep fighting for a system that protects children and respects communities. Leeds deserves nothing less.
Guess which Party voted against it? Yes Labour!i
With devolution, we no longer have to wait for national leaders to rescue us from the cost of living and climate crisis.
We're taking bold action ourselves to deliver real change.
I'm at @c40cities to push for more work on climate to create jobs, cut bills, and drive growth.
Sex, drugs, bribes, and corruption that go right to the top in UK jails. All about control and big money so what are the UK government doing about it? @DavidLammy@JamesTCobbler
@Scotty_G9 We all cry out for a common sense pollitician, and a party with common sense policies. The SDP is right on our doorstep. Stand up & sign up. 🇬🇧💪🏼🏴
Picked up a print edition of the @Telegraph today… and look what I find - the @SDPhq plan to solve the energy crisis ‘Energy Abundance’ reported by @AndrewOrlowski 👏
If you live in North East Lincolnshire, chances are that at some point you’ve voted for a Labour MP, and the chances are high that you’ve vowed “never again”
This might then leave you politically homeless or perhaps resigned to voting for something you maybe don’t really believe in.
You might not know about the @SDPhq but we are a party that hits the sweet spot between being culturally (small c) conservative, and economically leaning centre left.
What does this mean? It means that we are patriotic and believe in strong borders and common sense.
But it also means that We believe in the Family, Community & Nation. This is a descriptor we’ve used since we relaunched our party in 2018.
For us, this isn’t just a slogan, it’s a reflection of our values and it shapes the policies that reaffirm this.
Next year, we’ll be standing candidates as North East Lincolnshire goes to the polls to elect councillors to take the area forward, and we’d like you consider us for your vote.
To this end, moving forward, this account will try to show you what elected SDP councillors can do for our local community and I hope to engage with as many voters as I can ahead of next May to hear your views on the things that matter most to us in the area.
The SDP is very clear about who should benefit from government policy: the British people.
Other countries love our current energy policy. We will change this.
‘We need to elect leaders who grasp the basics of good governance… investment causes prosperity, failure to invest causes beggary and debt’
