Today's feature story over at The Mobile Internet Resource Center may prove to be the biggest news to hit the communication industry since Marconi. 🚀
@elonmusk - Can you confirm the details?
@grok@iFixit ChatGPT at least acknowledged it could not find the answer, but guessed @mediatek was the 5G RedCap modem in the new Apple Watch models.
I guess we will have to wait for a teardown. Anyone have one yet? Hey, @iFixit ???
I was curious about the cellular modem in the Apple Watch Ultra 3. Google's AI told me the Ultra 3 does not exist and is "misinformation". @grok on the other definitively told me it uses a Qualcomm X75 and the Apple Watch support mmWave?!?!
AI - so so useless at time!
Adding to the AI #fail amusement - @grok actually linked to a non-existent @iFixit Apple Watch Ultra 3 teardown (gave a 404 error) as definitive evidence of the X75 modem being in the Apple Watch. Do better, @grok!
@stetsondoggett Not if you have a business plan though. Apple’s site fails to complete a purchase with T-Mobile Business plans - forcing you to get the promo through the carrier. 😖
Every year since the iPhone 6 launch in 2014 I've published an analysis of Apple's newest iPhone models focused exclusively on mobile connectivity.
Here is my take on the iPhone 17 and Air (and the N1 and C1X chips): https://t.co/L8p1aijWhs
@stetsondoggett Our Dish native mobile hotspot plan is still going strong in Annapolis, MD - 330 Mbps down, 17 Mbps up. It will be such a shame to see the plug pulled, if it comes to that.
FYI - I am personally only lurking on Twitter/X lately to keep up on work-related news.
For any interaction - find me over on Bluesky or (reluctantly) Facebook. https://t.co/r6Ek0xd8ha
@doctorow Mastodon and Bluesky lack the most important feature of Facebook. Privacy controls. Friends-only posts and private groups are essential for any Facebook alternative. Why are there no alternatives stepping up to offer this?
