They got to form a joint RAF-QEAF 12 Squadron based at RAF Coningsby, which was the first time since WW2 that there has been one

So in that sense they're a major/imp

And if you're thinking that having SAMs on top of buildings is uncommon, then you might wanna know that the US routinely puts Avengers/NASSAMS
