Tony Blair resigned as British Prime Minister and later joined the investment banking sector. Rishi Sunak stepped down and is now working as an adviser with Goldman Sachs, Microsoft and Anthropic. It is being reported that Keir Starmer may also join Anthropic in the future. There are many similar examples in the United States, where former Presidents and senior politicians continued working in either the public or private sector after leaving office.
But in India, once someone becomes an MP, MLA or even a councillor, not only do they stop working after leaving office, but the next fifteen and half generations of their family do not need to work either, while continuing to live an ultra-luxurious lifestyle.
The only exception that comes to mind is Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. He continued teaching and inspiring students until his last breath. That is precisely why he commands such extraordinary respect
