before the rise of Buddhism, what we today call “Hinduism” did not exist. Instead, multiple cultures and traditions existed. Among them, the two major traditions were the Vedic culture and the Shramana culture. The Vedic culture was based on the Vedas, fire rituals, yajnas, and elaborate rituals, which attracted kings and rulers. On the other hand, the Shramana tradition was non-ritualistic and did not involve a priestly system.
With the spread of Buddhism, the ritualistic dominance of the Vedic religion was significantly reduced. After this, around the 3rd century BCE, the Manusmriti was composed, in which the Vedic tradition was presented as Brahmin religion. Rules favoring Brahmins were codified, and with the support of rulers, these rules gradually began to be followed in society.
Gradually, Brahmin religion became established in society. The people’s original culture remained, but in matters of life, death, and auspicious occasions, arrangements for Brahmins became customary. During this cultural conflict, Shaiva and Vaishnava traditions also emerged. Later, Shankaracharya brought the Brahmin religion back into the mainstream according to the principles of Manusmriti and secured royal patronage for it. By that time, Buddhism had already weakened.
After receiving royal support, the rules of Manusmriti, both written and orally transmitted, were further rooted in society. Society was divided into four varnas, which weakened social unity. As a result, the country became less capable of facing future challenges. Earlier invasions had taken place, but they did not create major cultural disruption. Emperor Kanishka came here, adopted Buddhism, and assimilated into the local culture, so the impact was different.
However, during the period when Brahmin religion was dominant, the Muslim invasions occurred at a time when society was divided into four varnas. This division made it difficult to respond collectively. A large section of society was categorized as Shudra and was not allowed to bear arms; such restrictions weakened resistance.
Consequently, a long series of defeats followed. Yet Brahmin religion survived, as it had already ensured that invaders would not interfere in its religious functions.
During the British Warfare period as well, the Peshwas employed Arab soldiers instead of local Bahujan communities because the latter were considered Shudra or Ati-Shudra. When the British introduced reforms and modern education, resistance emerged. There was fear that educating the masses would end traditional dominance, so opposition to education was encouraged.
Today, the country is becoming aware and conscious. Therefore, Brahminism which is seen as responsible for inequality and social division is being opposed. Brahminism is viewed as an ideology centered on Brahmin interests, inequality, opposition to the progress of Bahujans, ritualism, and the preservation of outdated customs and traditions. It is considered a distorted stream that stands against equality and humanity.
@rushikesh_agre_ The main problem is corruption. If the bureaucracy acts with integrity and upholds ethical standards, there will be far fewer issues and much less harm to the public.

I played for Siddharth College, founded by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. I have seen how it works how selections can change overnight. Many of my friends from backward classes and scheduled castes had great caliber, yet they were pushed aside.
Sarfaraz Khan used to live in our area. Once, his father asked me to join his club. We all know how long he was kept away from the national team despite his performances. Discrimination in cricket has existed for a long time. Even though the game today appears more inclusive and is widely showcased on television in many formats, underlying biases still seem to persist.
