I have been a persistent critic of Pune adminstration for their lack of vision and execution of public infra. But it seems they are finally getting their act together. Last 1 year we have seen good traction in many long pending projects.
- Pune Purandar airport reaching land acquisition phase.
- Pune metro, 120kms of routes planned.
- Pune Ring road work progressing fastЁЯдЮ
- Bypass routes in form of elevated roads planned on Katraj to Dehu rd and Kharadi to shirur, Talegaon to Shikrapur, Nashik phata to khed & Hadapsar to Yavat. Most routes are at different stages of progress.
- Two arterial bottleneck at Chandani chowk & University circle resolved.
- Multiple underground intra city routes planned to decongest city traffic.
- 5 kms long Katraj-Kondhwa road started in 2018 may finally get complete.
- Some action seems to have started to curb the menace of the 'tanker mafia'. Water has started flowing in huge Overhead tanks constructed across the city more than 10 years back. ЁЯдЧ
- Pune Bengaluru
Greenfield highway on verge of approval.
- Pune Mumbai missing link inaugurated.
If these projects get executed in the stipulated timeline Pune will be a much different city then what it is today. Fingers crossed for it's happening after a really long wait.ЁЯдЮ

India & China both have the same problem.
The 2nd generation factory owners are often not as passionate.
The first generation built with struggle.
They took risks, worked long hours, and fought to survive.
The second generation inherits comfort.
The factory is already running.
Money is already there.
The market is already built.
So, the hunger drops.
A lot of them:
- donтАЩt want to run operations
- were pushed into the family business
- like ownership more than responsibility
And slowly, strong factories are becoming average factories.
Meanwhile, new founders enter the same industry with more energy, speed, and ambition.
That is why many old businesses decline while newcomers rise.
A business cannot survive on family name alone.
Every generation must earn it again.
What needs to change to solve this?

@IndianTechGuide The proportion of exit and rest of the section continuing towards Bhayandar west is inadequate. The cross section at the exit should be wider than the section at 4 lane highways.

Looking at the current state of infrastructure being planned and built by my fellow engineers, I feel embarrassed as a civil engineer.
The flyover does not тАЬsuddenly narrow.тАЭ The transition from 4 lanes to 2 lanes is not a design flaw, but is based on available road width constraints, and future network planning.
As per planning, the flyover has been designed with two lanes for Bhayander East and future connecting two lanes for Bhayander West. Since the Bhayander East arm comes first along the alignment, the 4-lane configuration presently transitions into 2 lanes. The remaining two lanes on the outer side are planned as part of the future extension towards Bhayander West across the Western Railway line.
Up to Golden Nest Circle, where five major roads merge and traffic volume is high, a 2+2 lane flyover integrated with the Metro, along with slip roads on both sides, has been provided to disperse traffic effectively.
Beyond the junction, towards Bhayander East, the available right of way reduces as per DP. Accordingly, a 1+1 lane flyover with dedicated up and down ramps has been constructed along the median to provide uninterrupted movement towards Railway Phatak Road.
This design enables smooth crossing of one of the busiest junctions in the MiraтАУBhayander region while accommodating on-ground constraints.
Provision has been kept for future widening, wherein the outer side of the flyover on both carriageways will be extended by an additional 1+1 lane to ensure improved eastтАУwest traffic continuity.The proposal is currently at the planning stage and will be taken up in coordination with MBMC, after obtaining approvals from the competent authorities.
At present, the flyover has been designed primarily for traffic dispersal and congestion reduction in the MiraтАУBhayander area. Necessary safety measures have been incorporated, including rumble strips, delineators, adequate signage, retro-reflective tags, directional boards, and anti-crash barriers.
Traffic police guidance is being actively sought for any additional vehicular safety measures prior to opening the flyover for public use.

Lawyers at district court level or below are the reason we have so many pending cases.
We don't hate lawyers in India enough.
I've heard too many stories where a simple mutual settlement was enough and rational.
But the lawyer suggested court and ended up getting more than the intial settlement ask as lawyer fees, prolonging the case for years with absolute incompetence, or let's just allege, intended stupidity.
The fact that suing in India for any reason is next to impossible, empowers not just the lawyers, but every bad actor -- including babus and mantris.
