@FraserNelson@rcolvile In 1978/9: The top 1% of tax units (or earners) accounted for approximately 6% to 7% of total pre-tax national income.
In 2022/3: The top 1% of earners accounted for roughly 13% to 14% of total pre-tax
So, looks like increased income inequality pre-tax accounts for this shift
@Stottiemike@LukeTryl Not according to the DWP - only half of adults aged 54-64 were aware in their survey. Doubt the proportion is higher in 18-53 year olds... "Half of the respondents knew that National Insurance did not apply to earnings past State Pension age" https://t.co/SVDpqbFx6a
@LukeTryl Also questionable how many of the respondents would be aware that the post-tax income of a pensioner on £25k is £1k per annum higher than a salaried worker on £25k a year because of their NI exemption
@AlecStapp The Jones Act of 1920?? Might be one or two other things happen in the subsequent 105 years to affect capacity... 80s deindustrialization, I'm looking at you
@nicknorwitz@realDaveFeldman@AdrianSotoMota Begs the question of why the endothelium is being damaged thus initiating transcytosis (assuming damage is the driver...). Dr Malcolm Kendrick has written one or two blog posts on this topic https://t.co/SjA8zjDKqS
@HenningSittler@pronounced_kyle Something awry with that particular stat - a tankful of gasoline (37-40kg at 46.7MJ/kg) is indeed roughly 1.5GJ (closer to 1.8GJ) but 1.8kg wood only 30MJ (16MJ/kg)
@gmiller Seems there is some reasonable evidence of physical trauma having generational epigenetic effects https://t.co/zLCeK9SzMG.

@ole_b_peters Also former Head of HS1 speaking on Today programme earlier this week highlighted how the budget for that project had been kept relatively closely guarded; announcement of (large) HS2 budget inevitably led to higher bids for work, land sales etc.

If the NHS will to support it, I could roll out the German Corona-Warn-App (privacy respecting, official diagnosis rather than self-reporting as I understand it) in short time at zero cost to the taxpayers.
If the government can't pull themselves together, we can.
