You would have grown up reading Chandamama as a kid, and would have loved reading Vikram-Vetala stories, and that iconic image.

Today is Jayanti of the artist behind that image Karatholuvu Chandrasekaran Sivasankaran, or better known as Artist Shankar.

Hailing from a village near Erode, he was passionate about art since childhood.

He started his career with Kalaimagal in 1946, but it was with Chandamama/Ambulimama that he gained recognition.

He was the last of the original Chandamama design team, and had passed away in Sept 2020, but was posthumously given the Padma Shri in 2021.

#Naman to this genius who made our childhood that much better.
