"Tight stop losses are stupid. You get stopped out, and the stock rallies 10% the next day."
I've heard this argument countless times.
And whenever I hear it, I think the same thing:
You haven't understood where trading profits actually come from.
I've been trading stocks for more than 20 years. And one of the most important lessons I've learned is that I don't need to be right very often to make money.
My hit rate typically ranges between 30% and 40%, depending on the year and market environment.
That means I'm wrong on roughly 6 or 7 out of every 10 trades.
And I'm perfectly fine with that.
Why?
Because my average winner is typically 5 to 7 times larger than my average loser.
That's where my edge comes from.
Not from predicting every stock correctly. Not from avoiding every shakeout. And certainly not from hoping that every position eventually turns into a big winner.
I used wider stops in the past.
And I've studied the results.
What did I find?
Trades requiring 7–10% stops were not automatically more profitable. But when they failed, the losses were considerably larger.
That's a terrible trade-off if your system depends on a high win/loss ratio.
Now consider the impact on your trading capital.
My typical risk per trade is around 0.2–0.6% of my account.
Let's compare two hypothetical scenarios:
Trader A risks 0.3% per trade.
After 10 consecutive losses, the account is down roughly 3%.
Trader B risks 1% per trade.
After just 5 consecutive losses, the account is down roughly 5%.
Think about that.
Trader A can be wrong TWICE as often and still suffer a smaller drawdown.
Of course, you can adjust position size to control account risk even with a wider stop. But that doesn't solve the question of whether wider stops improve your strategy's expectancy.
And yes, sometimes I get stopped out at −3%, and the stock rallies 10% afterward.
So what?
I look for the next setup. Or I re-enter the stock if it offers another valid opportunity.
I'm not trying to win an argument about where one stock trades tomorrow.
I'm trying to execute a profitable system over hundreds of trades.
Some traders treat stocks like lottery tickets. They think the secret is finding the one big winner and holding on, no matter what.
That's not how I trade.
I accept lots of small losses because I want the occasional big winner to pay for many of them.
Without tight stop losses, I probably wouldn't have the trading edge I have today.
So the next time someone tells you that tight stops don't work because a stock rallied after stopping them out, ask one question:
What does your average winner look like compared with your average loser?
Because if you can't answer that, you're not evaluating a trading edge.
You're just telling stories about individual stocks.
Minister @arjunrammeghwal This is a total failure of justice for the poor. How long will Govt deny justice to the poor? Bad laws, bad justice system and no reforms. PM @narendramodi Sir we need urgent legal reforms. Biggest failure of our Republic since 1950 is failure of our justice system to deliver justice in time. Please have reforms urgently. As our 3rd time PM please give us Justice on time. All of us suffer. @AmitShah
This “historical injustice” theory needs a wider debate.
Almost every community faced historical injustice from someone in the past. Then why special privilege only for SC/STs?
Kshatriyas protected India’s borders for 2,000 years. They sacrificed their lives; their women burnt themselves alive. Why no special privilege for them?
Brahmins protected dharma for thousands of years. Islamic rulers made mountains of janeus and their chopped heads. Why no privilege for them?
The theory conveniently vanishes when Muslims are discussed. They were among the perpetrators, not the victims yet they now receive reservation and special privileges..
There is no proof that Brahmins and Kshatriyas committed the injustice, but there is proof that they suffered it. It looks as if the leftists had already decided the outcome and then invented convenient theories to justify it.
If AI can trade stocks so well, why are all these AI-managed portfolios at Fidelity, Schwab and elsewhere struggling to even beat the S&P 500?
And where are the AI portfolios winning the U.S. Investing Championship?
Backtests and predictions are easy. Show me the audited, real-money results. That’s where the bullshit stops.
The answer is because it can't. There is zero evidence of any enduring or consistent results from purely AI or computer manager portfolios that can even outperform the S&P 500. Fact.
Respected PM Narendra Modi Ji,
@narendramodi_in
You listened to and accepted many of the demands raised by the CJP. Bestow the same benevolence upon us in the General Category too.
We the General Category, have stood firmly with you and the BJP right from the past 11 years.
We have supported you, defended you and voted for you.
But many of my friends and followers from the General Category feel vulnerable when they see a general category citizen falsely implicated under the SC-ST Act. When even one person is falsely implicated, it creates fear and insecurity among others in the community.
GC students are becoming increasingly disheartened and demoralised when parties such as Congress, SP and RJD support reservations beyond 50%.
Whom should we appeal, trust and speak to ???
The general category has never protested like the CJP, Shaheen Baag protestors or the farmers. Does one really have to protest or abuse the government to be heard in India ????
I humbly request that the concerns of the General Category also be addressed through judicial and and task force.
1. The SC/ST Act should be invoked only after appropriate judicial scrutiny of the case or by a task force.
2. Reservation policies should have a defined time frame and be periodically reviewed.
3. Reservation in government jobs should not be given if either of the the parents or grandparents are already in government service or belong to an economically privileged section.
4. If any member of a family has a high end income, reservation should be denied.
5. If one generation has benefited from reservation, the next generation should not automatically inherit the same benefit.
I am and will always remain your strongest supporter. But it pains me when I see your supporters getting disillusioned with you. Please address this appeal of the General Category at the earliest. Please reassure them🙏🙏
I’ll say it again, and louder:
Brahmins are the new Jews of India.
Vishnu Tiwari spent 20 years rotting in jail on a fabricated SC-ST + rape case.
Lost everything.
Family dead.
Land gone.
Walked out at 43 with nothing.
UP government told NHRC:
“Not a human rights violation. No compensation.”
Because he’s Brahmin.
If the same man was SC-ST,
Modi himself would have flown down,
folded hands,
cameras flashing,
compensation cheque in hand.
But a Brahmin’s life destroyed?
Silence.
Procedure.
Move on.
This is not justice.
This is open, state-backed caste-selective hatred.
Today my daughter’s school bus took 2 hours to travel just 2 km in Varthur/Gunjur road.
For those 2 hours, I sat there as a parent feeling completely helpless.
I work hard. My wife and I pay lakhs in taxes every month. We took a huge home loan mainly so we could live close to our daughter’s school and give her a safer, easier childhood.
And yet, this is what “2 km from school” means here.
In the last year alone, we have seen a school bus topple, a woman suffer serious injuries after a fall, a biker almost lost his life after falling because of a pothole, and many more incidents that never become headlines.
Every day, ordinary people here tweet, email, complain, follow up and plead with authorities.
We are not activists.
We are not fighting for a political party.
We are parents, employees, families and taxpayers asking for one basic thing:
Please give our children a safe road to come home on.
Today, more than the traffic, what broke me was the feeling that despite doing everything a responsible citizen is supposed to do, I had absolutely no power to protect my own child.
If anyone knows how ordinary citizens of Varthur/Gunjur can reach someone with the authority to actually intervene, please help us.

Will higher MDR quietly push people back to cash?
MDR (Merchant Discount Rate) is the fee banks deduct from a seller on every digital payment:
• UPI (Above ₹2,000): 0.4% cut (capped at ₹300)
• Debit Cards: 0.4% to 0.9% fee
• Credit Cards: 1.5% to 3.0% heavy cut
• Cash at counter: Flat 0%
When paper notes are free to accept but digital swipes and scans take away a shopkeeper's hard-earned margin, informal "cash-only discounts" will return.
Penalizing transparent, digital trade always revives the cash economy.

Banning of mobile phones in temples is
1. One more layer of harassment for the devotees ( long Qs)
2. how will you enforce it when lakhs of ppl come during auspicious festival days ?
3. For Hindus from other states & nations it’s a life time memory to have that one pic in the temple
4. This will discourage younger gen from visiting temples
5. Selective application of such rules on one religion is being seen unfair!

Dear Rahul, Your complaint against Manu Smriti is that it says women must be kept under men's control. Now read this.
Manu Smriti says that women should be under the protection of their fathers during childhood, of their husbands during youth, and of their children in old age. What he said was that women cannot remain independent of such protection.
By saying that women cannot remain independent of such protection did Manu Smriti say women must be controlled? No.
On the contrary, it explicitly argued that they cannot be protected merely by control.
It says, "No man can protect women solely through physical strength. Confining them within the home does not constitute protection; they must protect themselves through their own will and self-restraint" [9.10 & 9.12]
Here Manu Smriti echoes Tamil Saint Thiruvalluvar’s emphasis on self-restraint for women.
Far from controlling women Manu Smriti actually calls for celebration of women. It says
"Where women are honoured, the gods rejoice; where they are not, all sacred rituals become futile" [9.56];
"Fathers, brothers, husbands, and brothers-in-law who desire their own welfare and prosperity should honour women by gifting them ornaments and fine clothing" [9.55];
"If female relatives languish in sorrow, the family will perish completely; where they live free from sorrow, that family will flourish" [9.57].
Now I challenge you Rahul to prove your statement that Manu Smriti demeans women

We send missions into space, build world-class airports and run sleek Vande Bharat trains. And then millions of Indians commute like this every day. It’s risky, dangerous and unacceptable. India cannot aspire to first-world infrastructure while accepting this as normal. 😱
