We're surrounded by spiritual junk food that leaves us starved of the true strength and power the gospel offers. The world is overflowing with cheap substitutes for our fundamental needs as children of God.
@stackerco Hard to say what all the situations are for other people leaving, but being honest with yourself is also really hard. People don't usually leave for a single reason, it's multi-faceted.
@stackerco me about the truthfulness of the gospel, of God, of Christ, of Joseph Smith and of the Church at large.
That's just one person ("they" was used just for additional anonymity), but some of the others feel like similar stuff might have happened there but played less of a role.
@CAJ033@Jaden877@ryanburge These are percentages and this is regarding how many current members have young children, how do you think baptisms for the dead would impact these numbers?
@poladian57260@ryanburge We don't have more than one wife ๐โโ๏ธ you might be thinking of e.g. the FLDS but I doubt they are included in this study
@scotseye888@GR8WH@flid1na If you're going to call it basic doctrine but can't point to a single verse in our canon that states it then perhaps it is pointless ๐ฅ
All the best to you regardless! God bless and hopefully we can both continue to draw closer to Christ ๐โโ๏ธ
@scotseye888@GR8WH@flid1na I already gave a start for the great apostasy. Also can you clarify what statements from our Elders specify that the Eucharist is _only_ a symbol?
Like I said, you might not like our answers but I'm happy to try to provide them.
@scotseye888@GR8WH@flid1na I'm still not sure you're reading all of my replies. Can you confirm?
Why do you assert we believe it is ONLY a symbol? I wouldn't agree with that framing and I'm sure many other members wouldn't.
@AnneOfTheBooks@nicoraytruth love for people to read from the others since I think that is where some of our most beautiful beliefs are found, but I do think the Book of Mormon is probably the best place to start.
@AnneOfTheBooks@nicoraytruth that starts off saying "Hearken, O ye people of my church" or the Pearl of Great Price that is a much more eclectic set of writings and much shorter with no promises to the reader about how to come to a knowledge of their truth. So imo, we are using them as intended. I'd still
