#rant
@dcurtino Is it as simple as Twitter: No, but once you've understood 1~2 core concepts, it's not complex either. And it's much easier than it was in the past when I first looked at Mastodon.
Okay, so admittedly I'm a bit worried about the outcomes of today's #Midterms2022 but on the other hand I'm also looking forward to @pablodiabolo's always insightful coverage of the event. 😅
And yes, if Google hadn't killed Reader the RSS blogosphere could have played a similar role as it did for me pre-Twitter. However, I still doubt that we would have gotten the widespread and diverse adoption of micro-blogging that Twitter enabled.
Just finished @beatonna's "Ducks" about her 2 years working in Alberta's oil sands to pay off her student loans. It's absolutely brilliant in every way and up there with the very best graphics novels like "The best we could do", "They called us enemy" & "Barefoot Gen". #MustRead
@beatonna I learned of the book via a tweet from @Cmdr_Hadfield in early October. It's such discoveries that make Twitter - and hopefully in the future also Mastodon - such a valuable tool for me. There's dozens of books and hundreds of articles I wouldn't have learned of otherwise.
