Google just made it clear
Manually fact checking all AI generated content before publishing is now “critical.”
Auto publishing unreviewed AI content was always a gamble.
Review it. Fact check it. Then publish.
SEO teams, do not skip this step.
@rustybrick Feels like Google is less concerned about whether AI was used and more about whether the content is actually useful. That distinction is going to matter a lot.
@lilyraynyc Ranking #1 does not mean much if Google answers the query before the user ever reaches your site.
SEO KPIs need to shift from rankings to clicks qualified traffic, and conversions.
AI Search is changing everything. If you're still building content roadmaps the old way, you're targeting dead traffic.
How to build an SEO roadmap for the AI Era:
Focus on Search Intent not just keywords
Optimize for Answer Engines, not just links
Build un-copyable, source data
@semrush Solid point websites are not dead, but they are just one piece of the puzzle now.
AI is pulling from Reddit, reviews, LinkedIn and more, so brands that only optimize their own site are missing half the visibility game.
The chart makes it crystal clear.
This Jan ’26 update is still one of the cleanest examples of Google’s war on scaled + listicle content.
Domain-level drop, almost zero recovery 9 months later. Quality + originality aren’t optional anymore.
Anyone else still seeing residual impact?
The unconfirmed January '26 update (which hit scaled content & listicles, among other things) was pretty massive:
Look how it hit this very well-known brand (and this is the view for their full domain, not just the blog where the content lived)
Still no significant recovery from the impact.
@lilyraynyc Feels like Google started treating heavy listicle or scaled content as a site wide quality signal rather than just a page level issue.
Do you seen any of the bigger brands start recovering through heavy content pruning + original research, or if most are still stuck.
@lilyraynyc This is still one of the clearest domain level examples of that January update. Intresting is how many of these sites lost visibility not just on the listicle pages, but across the entire domain.
Google just killed the last safe space in SEO.
Branded searches used to mean almost guaranteed clicks.
Now AI Overviews are showing up on Reddit, Adobe, Salesforce, Amazon and 93% of the brands tested.
Your brand name no longer belongs to you in Google.
MASSIVE SEO NEWS:
Google is starting to show AI Overviews for a ton of branded queries. Reddit, Salesforce, Amazon, Adobe + many more
93% of the brands I tested have AI Overviews appearing.
@semrush The focus on optimizing for both traditional search and AI-generated answers is exactly whats needed right now. That anatomy of well-optimized content visual is super clear especially the keyword clustering and intent matching parts. Looking forward to digging into the full guide
Hard truth 🔥
If a business keeps cycling through agencies and nothing works… the common denominator is usually the client.
We only partner with businesses ready to own their side of the results.
if your last 10 relationships didn’t work out
the problem is likely you

SEO News: Google Search Console just added a new "Multimodal" filter to the Performance report.
Opening the Search type filter now splits the "Web" option into two: Text-based and Multimodal.
Google's definition: "Web-multimodal tracks search results triggered by a query that uses an image, photo, or screenshot. Text-only queries are tracked as Web text-based."
In practice, that means you can finally isolate discovery coming from:
• Google Lens
• Circle to Search on Android
• Image uploads to Google Search
• The Chrome right-click "Search this image" option
One important caveat before you get excited: there's no query data for multimodal traffic. Google's own docs say the queries dimension isn't available for this search type (even though there is oddly a column for it), because these searches use images rather than text. So you'll see impressions, clicks and positions – but not the actual search queries.
Why it matters: visual search has been unclear in GSC until now. If your business lives on products, packaging, screenshots, plants, parts, artwork, or anything people point a camera at, this new report gives you a better idea of the size of this channel.
Check whether the filter has reached your property – it's rolling out gradually, and I'm now seeing it for several accounts.
Is multimodal traffic already showing in your Search Console?

SEO heads up:
Despite wild ranking swings after August’s Spam Update, Google confirmed NO September 2026
Broad Core Update.
John Mueller: We don’t quietly launch named updates.
Current volatility = normal algorithm tweaks.
