Being a neurodivergent woman in any field is horrendous. Every action requires anxiety about how you're being perceived, and pattern recognition that reveals problems is seen as a threat. By the time you wake up, do your routine and log on, you are already exhausted.
Your behavior is not excused the way that a man's is. You develop comorbidities like anxiety and depression because the world was not built for the way that you think. Women are expected to be closer to the center of all things, to value harmony and connection, even if they don't believe in it. We are expected to take the brunt of running other people's lives just because society expects us to as women. Being neurodivergent is seeing through all of that, trying desperately to belong, and knowing you are coming up short. The more you fake it, the more you climb, the more you try to respect hierarchies, the more burnt out you feel.
Technology was supposed to make the world belong to the neurodivergent, however I feel that it tends to prioritize men. Being able to ship code alone in a dark room is not always a specialty for neurodivergent women. Some of us like myself, developed a special interest in how people connect, and became super connectors. I have dedicated four hours a day for five years to networking and connecting in crypto. Why crypto? Because the open-mindedness threshold has to be high, in order to believe in the power of magic internet money. Socializing with these individuals made me feel less alone in the world, and able to unmask.
Hiring does not always honor this; organization and "showing your work" are highly prized versus original thinking. Having metrics and case studies and examples is almost impossible when you are moving at a breakneck speed. All of this is to say, companies like @PalantirTech who see the value of neurodivergent employees, take a chance on the AuDHD women out there. The genius loner, autistic man, is not the only valuable type of neurodivergent person to hire.
We meet thousands of people a year and half are anons online. It is genuinely impossible to remember everyone and I don’t even get offended at this point
Personally I think it’s rude to start a conversation with “do you remember me” or “we’ve met before” and I won’t play the game. It’s demanding to be flattered or you’ll make the other person feel bad. It’s literally not my problem you weren’t memorable.
Even with the best product and team, you need a story people care about.
That’s why we built @HypeBootcamp: 4 weeks of hands-on workshops.
Leave with a full playbook + the training you need to share your story.
