I'm not happy with the memory system in Grok Bot. Somehow I constantly have to remind it that it already knows certain things about me. It keeps replying without checking its memory beforehand. ChatGPT's memory feels so much more continuous, probably due to dreaming.
It’s not “vibe coding” it’s “coding”. “Manual coding” is the name of a dumb hobby where you write garbage code with a keyboard. The obsolete will attempt to hold frame and it’s important to overwhelm them with the correct framing.
@fchollet As per The Beginning of Infinity, the number of scientific problems is infinite. No lab will ever have the recourses to investigate every question. You only need to find a specific problem no one else is interested in.
I wonder how future generations will look back at the early AI debate.
We were potentially on the verge of radically accelerating science, medicine and automation.
And a shocking amount of the conversation revolved around whether machines were making people feel less special.
What an embarrassing chapter of human history.
People call a future without jobs dystopian.
You know what’s actually dystopian?
Being born into a civilization technologically capable of producing abundance, yet being forced to spend 40 years working just to justify your right to exist.
But sure, the robots are the problem.
"Mathematicians did not ask for this work to be done" might become one of the historical quotes from this era, perfectly depicting the downfall of academia
A friend asked me today if you can read intelligence off a brain scan, the way we try to do for psychiatric conditions at the Brain Dynamics Lab at Stanford, where I'm doing research. With fMRI connectivity, models predict about 20% of the variance in IQ, which is real but far from a reliable individual readout.
The finding I like most sits a level below that. Goriounova et al. (2018) recorded neurons from tissue removed during brain surgery and found that people with higher IQ had pyramidal neurons with longer, more branched dendrites that fired faster. Genç et al. (2018) used diffusion MRI in about 500 people and found that higher IQ went with fewer, more orderly neurites in cortex.
My guess is that larger neurons each integrate more input, so the network gets by with less wiring. Both studies have limits: the neuron data come from a few dozen epilepsy and tumor patients, and neurite density from MRI is an indirect estimate.

@Art_If_Ficial@iruletheworldmo Speed is actually my largest complaint right now. Watching it click through websites is painful. I can't wait to see it reach superhuman speeds in computer use.
the beginning of infinity permanently radicalized me
core idea is that nothing is ever settled and all of our existing knowledge can always be improved. and new knowledge lets us solve problems that on the surface appear to be permanent facts of life.
and bc neither knowledge or problems are permanent, we’re always on the cusp of new discoveries and therefore new solutions.
so while we have no idea on how to properly forecast the future, there is something grounding knowing that there’s still more knowledge to be discovered. and even in an era on abundant super intelligence, we still won’t reach the upper bound of knowledge creation. crazy.
Many older leaders - Trump, Xi, Putin may have become more AI pilled after hearing that this technology will dramatically accelerate progress and potentially help develop aging reversal therapies within their lifetimes.
All of them have a pretty big chance of seeing that happen.
They’re not that old: 80, 73, and 73. Plenty of people nowadays live into their 90s.
And with ASI driven acceleration, aging reversal technologies could potentially arrive as early as ~2030.
A more conservative scenario would be 2032–2036.
Even if regulations move slowly, but ASI has already figured out a combination of therapies by 2028–2030, we would just need a few extremely old, bedridden, people in their 100s or late 90s to try some still unapproved, "underground" experimental therapies.
If we then see that it’s really working and appears safe, we will see a flood of people in their 90s and 100s rushing to do the same.
I’ve said this many times in the past. IMO, most boomers will live long enough to see aging reversal technology.
As leaders see more AI driven breakthroughs in medicine and healthcare, I think they will become even more supportive of AI development and acceleration.
The left is on a project to enforce equality, despite biology and markets.
The goal of equality gives claim to the moral high ground, but contradicting biology and markets requires censorship and violence, which makes the whole project immoral.
Humanoids will soon become great practice partners for tennis and other sports.
These robots, trained by Galbot, are preparing to play with celebrities at the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing. They're fully autonomous.
