Yesterday, during Eritrea’s so-called Independence Day celebration, dictator Isaias Afwerki repeatedly used the word "Oromummaa" disrespectfully and dismissively.
His speech made it clear just how deeply he hated the Oromo People and their identity.
Such hate-filled rhetoric only exposes his fear of truth and justice.

Those who are Oromophobic often portray the word “Oromummaa” as a threat.
But Oromummaa simply means being Oromo nothing more, nothing less.
It’s no different than proudly identifying with any other ethnic group.
Equality is not a threat, it’s a right.
