with time moving so fast, i always felt like i was falling behind. i wasn't starting something of my own, i didn't get into yc or a startup accelerator, and it often felt like i was late.

but over time i've realised there are two different paths. one is getting into an accelerator with an idea but not a lot of confidence yet. you spend the next 2 or 3 years trying different things, making multiple pivots, sometimes ending up in a completely different industry, until one idea finally works.

i actually think this path is the harder one. and maybe that's exactly why it produces so many exceptional founders. when you've spent years being wrong, changing direction, getting rejected, and starting again, you build a level of resilience that's hard to learn any other way. you become better at making decisions with very little certainty, you learn to detach yourself from ideas instead of falling in love with them, and every failure compounds into better judgement.

the other path is spending those years inside a startup and finding a problem you face every single day. instead of looking for an idea, you naturally come across one because you've lived with the problem. you end up building something people genuinely need. startups like superwall are a good example.

theres no easy path. both roads can lead to the same place the struggle just comes at different times.
