Thank you @ChuckHoskin_Jr for taking time to talk with us today at the Fall Festival, it was an honor to meet you. Your leadership is greatly appreciated! #cherokee#cherokeeproud
Many of you have experienced abuse – not only by individuals but also by churches and Christian institutions. I grieve with you – as does our God. Your obvious commitment to bring truth and light to places of deception and darkness strengthens my commitment to do the same.
No one is trying to cancel a pastor over a mistake.
But when the pastor doubles down on the mistake when it's brought to his attention, rather than humbly apologizing, it's alarming.
The red flag is not the mistake. It's refusing to admit it when it's brought to your attention.
Meanwhile, more state-mandated whitewashing in Oklahoma… “several school districts have removed multiple books by women and minority authors… for fear of running afoul of #HB1775. Those books include Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird…” https://t.co/JPWE5Ia74x

@eliz_ford There was 1 more meeting I had with them, after my husband & I were fired, where they brought his wife/my friend & called it “Get Our Hearts Clean.” It was abusive too- gaslighting, coercion. I showed up on Zoom (couldn’t walk into his office again) & I left early. Saddleback: ⚠️
In my most abusive meeting w/ my 2 pastors, while they tried for a solid hr to break me down, I kept thinking of this verse. Love “isn’t rude, it doesn’t seek its own advantage, it isn’t irritable, it doesn’t keep a record of complaints,”
1 Corin 13:5 It wasn’t love. #abuse
We Christians THINK church community is the best and deepest community. But having abruptly left my church community over irreconcilable differences, I note the majority of those relationships instantly and completely evaporated.
@johnnarae @penn_jael I had a “concerned church Karen” come across the auditorium to ask me to demand a young man remove his hat… I told her very gently, “ no, he has never set foot in church before” she was furious …. 🙄
