We launched the European City^2 project in Barcelona this week, linking quantum theory to social science through agent-based modeling and more. Look out for groundbreaking science to come out of this. Thanks to Horizon Europe for the opportunity.
I had the privilege of talking to @HuwPriceAU about the significance of his role at @CSERCambridge and his work on retrocausal physics and decision theory. Ideas matter and his work is important. https://t.co/DjGcLiXEO8
@GillVerd Pretty amazing. Great potential here for agent-based simulations of social interaction and voting theory. If the world needs anything, it's better ways to test group decisions. You might even vindicate e/acc with this.
It was a privilege to talk to Connor Leahy @NPCollapse about his potentially promising breakthrough in AI control at Conjecture, and about the collective imperative we should all feel to talk to politicians. https://t.co/NaSoPlcCTc
@patcon_@glenweyl@CivicTechTO Thanks for sharing your drawing, which is great. One of the challenges of trying to bridge different research programs are the language gaps. Drawings can sometimes help. And thanks for pointing out the typos, which I will correct as soon as I can.
It was exhilarating to talk Kevin Mitchell @WiringTheBrain about the political implications of his important book - and connect it to the goal-oriented, top-down approach of people like @drmichaellevin and @MillerLabMIT. https://t.co/FhWAQDve3v.
@TylerMGoldstein@IAmTimNguyen@ericweinstein Think of these as invitations for Eric to square his shoulders and - instead of insulting - talk to the only truly competent person to have given his work any time. It baffles me that Eric won't, and even more that anybody will defend him for it.
Tim Maudlin talks with his signature clarity and power about what makes a good theory of the world and about the early genius and courage of Yakir Aharanov studying the foundations of physics. https://t.co/v658j65iyo
@charlesmurray In terms of squaring up to the reality of IQ, Fryer is no different than Claudine Gay. He seems to think that if schooling & parenting is "fixed", gaps will close. Herrnstein demonstrated that gaps actually widen. Think Obamas vs Appalachia. I'd love to talk about it.
It was a privilege to talk to once again to Adrian Bejan @constructal, this time about his lifetime of influence and about our mutual collaboration with several leading research labs to draw out the implications of his work for effective governance. https://t.co/QIv4Ny9TML
What Avshalom Elitzur and colleages are accomplishing in quantum theory is important for *this" world, the one in which we actually live - and for other worlds, too, but who cares about other worlds? I feel fortunate to have had him on as a guest. https://t.co/HUYlcdeVMd
@TylerMo41608321 Thanks for your comment. I'm guesing his biggest challenge is filtering information. Is there something specific about the provided link that you think would be relevant to his work? Thanks again
It was a privilege to talk to Earl K. Miller @MillerLabMIT about the important paradigm shift taking place in neuroscience and about his latest work on cytoelectric coupling and top-down causation in the brain. https://t.co/Cj99ukac8k.
@Moritz_Alkofer@MillerLabMIT IMHO, the idea goes back to Aristotle's notion of final causes. Aharanov's two-state vector formalism is a more recent milestone. Miller's work on the prefrontal cortex, goals, and cytoelectric coupling also represents a key development.
@Moritz_Alkofer@MillerLabMIT It's a move away from a pure reductionist & bottom-up approach to understanding the brain to one that considers both bottom-up and top-down causality.
@briankeating@ericweinstein@joerogan If we can't fix our problem on this planet, it seems unreasonable to think we'll be able to fix it with even deadlier technology anywhere else. Am I missing something?
