@SquidSushi_ @SamuelJRo AV/2 are some of my favourite MVs of all time but i will say they don't deliver the same level of engaging platformer or combat gameplay that some of the other big titles have, probably filters a few people when the exploration game is actually about exploration

@GnosticBeaumont gossamer is a little rough around the edges but it and kaleidoscope (same dev) are both very influenced by the dman hacks

Cryogenesis plays it straighter but there's definitely crossover in approach and atmosphere especially later in the game

it's still not the best part of the game with a controller but timing all the parts of the movement / firing the grapple will be much easier

@Jumpmanryan if you have some memory of the route and some confidence in the controls (make sure to learn single wall walljumps and maybe mockballs), the second run is fun in a very different way as you blast through zebes. its a headliner act of speedrunning for a reason

@ValToadstool the only flaw is no respin but if you are spinning / walljumping off everything it's peak platforming. the simpler stuff in zm/dread is fun and maybe better suited for the boss fights but SM traversal clears

super zero mission where you get the restartable shinesparks is so hype

@Fw_Parkr super is the movement playground goat
zm is the smooth action metroidvania with some tricky extras
fusion is what dread expanded on with the emmi sections but more linear/more restricted controls

elements of all 3 are in dread you can't go wrong
