Today The Climate Book is finally released in many parts of the world!
I want to use my platform to share the reality of the climate crisis – to communicate a holistic picture of how the world is changing and what we need to do about it. That is why I created this book.

A few years ago, I wrote a little essay about how my friendship with @IsaacFitzgerald saved my life. The lovely folks at @OprahDaily just re-published it: https://t.co/kqcaFDMCc2

This quote by Arundhati Roy lives rent-free in my head: “There's really no such thing as the 'voiceless'. There are only the deliberately silenced, or the preferably unheard.”
“At any moment, the Tuba City Boarding School staff members said, the 7-year-old would be called upon. Not knowing what that meant, he obeyed, and, in the middle of the night, they woke him.”
“We were treated in Tuba City like we were in the military.”

Fabulous profile of @jzsalvipoet in the NYT. SOLITO comes out tomorrow, and is, for me, perhaps the most staggering and essential memoir of this or any other year in recent memory, to be read, re-read, and taught for decades to come.

These are stories we often hear about in the abstract yet to receive them over & over again in a compressed time period like this has been eye opening & deeply saddening. And again I ask: What is a woman’s worth?
when i think back on the happiest days of my life so far, most of those have not occurred in any public way. they have been deep private joys, including writing poems that will never be published. i wrote them because they are my way to be alive
