I really loved reading this book and hope you do too! For me the most striking things was its coverage of the First World War and the experience of tirailleurs.

Just finished The Fortunes of Wangrin by Amadou Hampate Ba - a super readable book set in Mali from 1910s on with a really strong #WW1 theme of tirailleur lives running through it!
