Did you know ? It was Mr. A.Sinnalebbe, a Muslim MP from Batticaloa tabled a motion in the State Council on 16th January 1948 suggesting that the Lion Flag of King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe which was taken to Britain in 1815 should be made the National Flag #lka

I welcome the decision by the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia to set aside the death sentence imposed on Sri Lankan national Anojan Sivarasa.
This brings immense relief to Anojan, his family, and all Sri Lankans who have followed his case with deep concern. It reflects the value of patient diplomacy, respect for the legal processes of a friendly nation, and the tireless work of those who stood by a Sri Lankan citizen abroad.
I express my sincere appreciation to the Government of Saudi Arabia for this outcome. I also thank the many Saudi Arabian and Sri Lankan diplomats, civil servants and legal teams for their dedicated efforts.
My Government will continue to extend all necessary support to Anojan and his family as the remaining legal processes conclude. No Sri Lankan who leaves our shores in search of a livelihood should ever feel that they stand alone.
Thank you to everyone who supported and stood with Anojan throughout this difficult time ❤️🙏🇱🇰

Good News 🇱🇰
The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has set aside the judgment imposing the death penalty on Sri Lankan national Anojan Sivarasa - Sri Lanka's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment Arun Hemachandra
Thank You All ❤️🙏
In a statement, Hemachandra described the development as “a major relief for Anojan Sivarasa” and said it followed sustained diplomatic and legal efforts by the Government of Sri Lanka.
I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.
A different kind of service behind the Kandy Esala Perahera. 🙏🏽
Thousands of people gather along the streets of Kandy each night, and once the Perahera passes, a huge amount of waste — bottles, food packaging and other items — is left behind.
Apart from serving free tea to those attending the Perahera, staff from Watawala Tea have been joining the Kandy Municipal Council’s clean-up efforts, helping collect and clear the waste after the crowds leave.
It’s one of those efforts that may not get much attention, but makes a real difference. A nice example of people coming together to support those working behind the scenes and help keep Kandy clean during one of Sri Lanka’s most important cultural events. 🇱🇰

Simple moments, but a lifetime of love. ❤️

All police stations have now been equipped with the facilities required to accept traffic fine payments through GovPay, DIG W. P. J. Senadeera, Director of the Traffic Control and Road Safety Range, said.
He said police officers assigned to traffic duties have been provided with sufficient mobile devices to facilitate GovPay payments and are required to carry them when conducting traffic operations.
Accordingly, motorists issued traffic fines should be able to make the payment at the location instead of being required to visit a police station, Senadeera said.
He warned that directing a motorist to a police station on the claim that GovPay facilities are unavailable would constitute a serious offence by the relevant police officer.
Senadeera said the Inspector General of Police has issued the necessary instructions through an RTM, making the GovPay facility a right available to the public as part of the government’s digitalisation policy.
He also said a demerit point system for traffic offences is expected to be introduced in the future, under which points will be deducted based on offences committed by motorists.
The public will be informed about the points applicable to different traffic offences once the system is implemented, he said.
Senadeera urged motorists to immediately report any traffic officer who harasses them or claims that GovPay facilities are unavailable. (Newswire)
👶❤️ A family in Australia has welcomed an extraordinarily rare miracle.
A 34-year-old mother gave birth to naturally conceived identical quadruplet girls after a high-risk pregnancy, with doctors saying the chances of such a pregnancy are around one in 15 million. Even more remarkably, all four babies shared a single placenta — something doctors described as virtually unheard of.
Born at 28 weeks and four days, the four girls are doing well in neonatal intensive care, while their parents, who already have four children, say their hearts are "overflowing with gratitude."
A true medical rarity and an incredible story of hope. 🇦🇺✨
Disney Princess in real life. 🧚♀️🧚♂️🧚
Love and trust don’t need a language. The most beautiful thing is how this little girl has made these animals feel loved and safe. It’s truly wonderful to witness moments like this in the world. If only everyone’s heart could be this beautiful… ❤️
WORLD NO. 2 🇱🇰 🔥
Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage has climbed to World No. 2 in the latest men’s javelin rankings.
His incredible 92.62m throw, now the 8th-best in world history
Even Namal passed that law exam without the proper qualifications. Yoshitha became a naval cadet officer without meeting the basic requirements. Chichiya (Rohitha) even became an astronaut.
Parents like Mahinda and Shiranthi have, in a way, ruined their own children. No matter what, parents should teach their children values and principles from a young age. In trying to preserve power, they ended up sacrificing their own children. Today, those children are struggling in courts and public forums to defend their lies.
In that respect, Chandrika was an excellent mother. She educated her children and allowed them to build their own comfortable lives away from politics
Laws not passed by AKD yet:
1) Online Safety (Repeal) Act
2) Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) (Repeal) Act
Laws passed during Sirisena (basically, RW)
1) Nineteenth Amendment to the Constitution

Numbers mean zilch.
My aunt got married at twenty-one because everyone said it was “the right time.” She didn’t hate her husband. She didn’t love him either. She just learned how to live with him.
She woke up early every day to cook, clean, and take care of everyone before herself. When she was tired, they called her lazy. When she was quiet, they called her cold. When she cried, they said she was being dramatic. So she stopped crying.
Instead, she started saving small pieces of herself in quiet ways. She read books late at night when everyone was asleep. She took online classes on her phone. She kept a notebook hidden in her drawer where she wrote the life she wished she had.
Years later, she helped her daughter apply to college in another city. She filled out every form, made every call, and cheered louder than anyone when the acceptance letter came. At the celebration, people praised her for being “such a good mother.”
But I knew the truth.
She didn’t just raise a daughter. She raised the version of herself she was never allowed to be.
