जून 2019 की बात है.

यूपी के रामपुर से एक घटना सामने आई थी. एक नाबालिग बच्ची का रेप किया गया, और उसके बाद उसकी लाश पर तेजाब डाल दिया गया ताकि शिनाख्त न हो सके.

10 जून को IPS अजयपाल शर्मा ने रामपुर एसपी का कार्यभार सम्हाला था.

और 22 जून को इस रेप घटना के आरोपी को एक एनकाउंटर के बाद अरेस्ट कर लिया गया.

मीडिया ने ख़बरें चलाईं कि यूपी पुलिस के “सिंघम” ने किया एनकाउंटर. अजयपाल शर्मा ने अपने फेसबुक पर लोगों का धन्यवाद भी किया. लोगों को लगा कि अजयपाल
शर्मा ने ही एनकाउंटर किया है.

उस समय हमने रामपुर क्राइमब्रांच और ख़ुद अजयपाल शर्मा से बात की. सबने कहा - एनकाउंटर के समय अजयपाल शर्मा मौके पर मौजूद ही नहीं थे.

ऐसे में अगर वो मौके पर ही नहीं थे, तो गोली चलाने की बात तो दूर की है.
