“Don’t politicise this” means “only MY side gets to be vindicated by events”
And the people complaining about the “politicisation” of Henry Nowak’s murder not only politicised the death of George Floyd, they also politicised a fictional murder in a Netflix show.
I really loved a shader that was posted last month by @YoheiNishitsuji .. so I thought I’d see how it looked in our engine behind the #NoMansSky starfield! Probably not something we could use, but very pretty and a fun hour getting it working!
Yes, the physics is very basic. Everyone who paid attention in school knows what will happen. But putting yourself in the line to demonstrate it is still pretty badass.
Pressure to have faster output by burning tokens but not allowed to burn infinite tokens and then looking at the output and hating it and realizing you could have done a better job with zero tokens but now the tokens are spent and time has passed is kinda killing me rn

Fork your dependencies, trim them to only your use case, never update unless it breaks for your users. I’ve been vocal about this for 10+ years. I’ve always said that updating is way riskier than latent bugs (which can be tracked and CVEs monitored).
If you are updating a dependency, it’s on you to analyze every single commit in the full transitive set of dependencies. If you dont see anything compelling, dont update!
I remember at HashiCorp once in awhile an engineer would try to update a dep or replace a DIY lib with an external one and id always ask “show me the commit we need.” Dont update for the sake of it.
Feeling pretty swell about this mentality with all the supply chain attacks happening.
Kind of disturbing honestly. There’s something about God in math proofs so this is a weird moment.
Having an AI model solve a famous problem feels way more monumental to me than anything else so far.
Why doesn't NZ consolidate government departments to the same as Finland (12), which has a similar population, instead of the mish mash that we currently have (45) https://t.co/3JKKcbIwfl
@gfsdgsdg2334@PronouncedHare I often feel the same, but then I think about all the people depending on me (policy analysts at the MBIE and ministry of regulation)
Google’s internal incentives are to build new stuff to get rewarded/promo’d. Maintaining something existing is not that promo-worthy.
It’s why every year there’s a new product for the same thing. Oh, migrating customers also not promo-worthy.
Why Google is so chaotic
@Naironius Germany and America are very similar. In the USA, you are allowed to insult the American president. In Germany, you are also allowed to insult the American president.
