regarding the homesteading regret one thing I will say though is I still think it is important to have some amount of home production, teach kids where their food comes from, and also to learn basic skills of producing things for oneself

I don't think there are only two options of like Dollar General or subsistence agriculture

lots of gradations in between and actually it is GOOD to learn to toil a bit, at the very least to prove to yourself it is possible and to know how to do things

This is good advice. I’d go farther — go for a walk every day, without electronics. Don’t just avoid social media, don’t listen to podcasts, or even music. BE in your environment.

Money is incredibly important. It’s how you’re rewarded for providing value in a tribeless society. But it should not occupy your thoughts. Continually focusing on money can only lead to sadness. Seek rich rewards, but do so by focusing on the value.
