I am not a socialist, and I do not support socialism. I’m a Michigan Democrat who believes in capitalism, democracy, making sure billionaires pay their fair share of taxes, and standing with unions in the fight for workers’ rights.
This is a cynical, Republican-forced vote designed to present a false choice: that standing up for voting rights means embracing socialism. It doesn’t. I was proud to join my Democratic colleagues in voting against it.
When young Republicans on a group chat used racist slurs to refer to Indians did Vance stand up for his wife then? Nope. He defended their
‘edgy, offensive jokes.’
Let me say the obvious here: if you normally vote by mail this may be the year to go in person to cast your ballot. Especially if you live in a state where a crucial seat is up for grabs.
It is true that Trump has exerted coercive pressure on business to give him money, but it’s not true that too execs “have no choice” — Anthropic is a successful company despite refusing to play this game.
It's really impossible to overstate how vile and ghoulish these people are.
This is straight-up fascism, yes, but even fascism doesn't always come with this kind of open exultation in human suffering.
