Today is Holocaust Memorial Day. It's sobering on this day to reflect this week, the U.S. has (1) proposed a Federal registry of people with autism & (2) sent a questionnaire to Barnard employees asking if they are Jewish. https://t.co/MFSO5vclBe... https://t.co/OxYsC035FI...
ICYMI: REDfly database has moved to Bluesky! Follow us at https://t.co/Yz5KMDTwKL for news and updates. Come try our new Search interface (beta) at https://t.co/bV6dissXCA
Major new update! Not only did we add ~50 new reporter constructs and update info on over 800 more, we introduced the beta version of our new Search and Download interface with vastly expanded and improved functionality. Try it out!

In her compelling op-ed published @Suntimes, @SocDevBio President Dr. Carole LaBonne warns that rapid innovation may not be suitable for science—where careful methodology, peer review, and sustained funding are key. If rushed, it risks breaking the very foundation of scientific progress. Read the full letter to understand why science needs stability. ⬇️⬇️

Excited to report the final version of our paper out today:
In @eLife: Regulatory genome annotation of 33 insect species https://t.co/F3Na7OWCUg
Kudos to all involved in this monumental effort that provides a preliminary regulatory annotation of 33 insect genomes. (1/3)
My commentary on the closure of @VectorBase. Join me in rallying for its sustainable continuation. Comment, repost, and circulate. Let’s ensure this vital resource remains accessible for our global #VectorBiology research community.
Very happy to share that our paper on regulatory #evolution of the #Drosophila and #Aedes aegypti sim locus is out today in @PLOSGenetics. Kudos to Isabella, Bill, and Geyenna for tackling this massive project and bringing #mosquito genetics to our lab!

We are being more conservative now in what we call a CRM vs. simply a "reporter construct." This reduces the risk of sequences with novel activity being overlooked, but doesn't otherwise affect the data in REDfly. Stay tuned for more updates/new features!
We updated the database yesterday! 72 brand-new sequences/22 new papers/lots of add'l data added to existing records. There's a disproportionate number of new "CRM" records, due to a tweak of the algorithm we use to define "CRMs"
