@NASA's founding visionary behind @chandraxray and a titan of high energy physics has left us. We'll miss you, friend.

Looking down - looking up. FY3F weather satellite image received on X-band (crop of the Netherlands) looking down at Earth from LEO; and looking up at the cosmos using my SeeStar S50 - some 1800 seconds on M51 "the Whirlpool Galaxy". Amazing, given the city lights and full moon.
@petermeteor Je kunt alleen het daglicht gebied (=Europa/Midden-oosten) van de anderhalve voorgaande baan napluizen en hopen dat je water o.i.d. herkent.
@petermeteor Sorry, Peter, the city boundaries here are very sharp and there are crop circles to its south. Tell Rifa’at appears to have none of this ….
@petermeteor@supertrack_it@aang254@original_lego11 I had little choice. The area was only covered in MSS channels 2,3 and 4. I used 3,2,4=RGB and then the usual Hue shift etc to get the green not looking purple
Yesterday I took a KANOPUS-V 3 X-band pass where I recognised an area from FENGYUN 3B images I received years ago. Navodari on the Black Sea coast. Local crop, somewhat bigger area (both PSS), a MSS false colour crop and a FENGYUN 3H crop of the area an hour or so later.
@petermeteor ChatGPT has been wrong all five times I tried. In one case when I queried why there was no river in the solution it proposed it praised me this was a good observation and came with the next wrong solution….
