Several friends told me about Justice Clarence Thomas lecture at UT-Austin last week. Had a chance to listen to (most) of it Saturday morning. A wonderful celebration of the ideas that created American civilization. Well worth listening. Justice Thomas is simply remarkable, the man simply does not care that you hate him, and he cheerfully believes and behaves the way he always has. A lesson for us all. https://t.co/vKc9lV8fmx
This Easter Sunday, we are offering TWO morning services, 9am & 11am. No more needing to play rock, paper, scissors for a seat. These services will be identical and both concluding with the triumphant singing of the Hallelujah chorus. #heisrisen https://t.co/7d1ow9odF7

The death of @johnmacarthur continues to deeply move me, I'm so thankful for his legacy and the world wide impact. I was so proud of him when he would go on the "Larry King Show" and present the Gospel so gently and yet so bold. I love how John grew in a "reformed" soteriological direction over his life. Eventually, the gospel, the bible and then heaven will do that.
Some remarkable tributes have come from people @benshapiro@aigkenham@nytimes@Franklin_Graham@CTmagazine. People who don't often agree could agree John was (by grace) a good Christian.
A few thoughts on the passing of John MacArthur. History will remember him as the "Matthew Henry" of the modern age, who (perhaps) more than any other Protestant Scholar encouraged the simple reading, teaching and common understanding of scripture as sufficient for the spiritual growth of mankind.
It's also interesting to remember the personal relationships between Boice, Sproul, MacArthur that knit together the first modern alliance of confessing Evangelicals and the Reformed world. These men largely drove this golden age of Calvinism and "Big God theology," and along with JI Packer, Tim Keller and John Piper, the conservative resurgence within the Southern Baptist Convention and the growth of the Presbyterian Church in America and NAPARC were used by God in extraordinary ways to save souls and cultivate the thought life of the evangelical mind.
We at Reformed Theological Seminary are thankful for the life and ministry of Pastor John MacArthur, who has entered into the presence of our Savior. A faithful preacher and steadfast servant of Christ, he followed the path laid before him: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7). We are praying for the Lord’s comfort for his family, congregation, and all who grieve. May God continue to raise up ministers who faithfully preach the Scriptures and the glory of the gospel.
(1/3) Positive PCAGA post. Non-business highlights for me in no particular order:
1. Meeting brothers I only previously knew from X.
2. Meeting Terry Johnson and thanking him for his work on worship and for introducing me to Hughes Old, who he referred to as “the man.”
