@LaxDisciple In 1998 I was a bishop. There were 25,551 wards. During the next five years I handled 4 severe abuse cases. Two involving children. I was directed not to report to authorities. Begs the question ; does $ lost in court trump the life of an abused child?

@LaxDisciple It was during my tenure the church instigated the abuse hot line. I regret not reporting because the hot line said I shouldn’t. That is something I’d fight today but it is true; I was told NOT to report because the victim had to do that. The church would have a lawsuit. Wow.

@LaxDisciple That’s so unfortunate. I think in the long run it will hurt both of them equally if not more than you suffered and nobody comes away with much good to say about it except to express sincere and honest remorse. I empathize with you and hope you can keep on keeping on as you are.
