@ReverendWarnock I have had Type 1 diabetes for almost 48 years. In the mid-1980s, at one point, I was between jobs, so I had no health insurance. I could get a vial of insulin for $11, which was manageable. If someone today needs insulin & they have no insurance, they are totally screwed!
@travalightly Same as many others - severe hypos hit me like a ton of bricks. Even when the prominent symptoms subside, I can feel off for hours after. The rapid change in BGs often impacts me too (ie not just what the number is but how quickly it changes).
Registration is open for the first-ever conference dedicated entirely to the mental health components of living with #diabetes. Open to #PWD, diabetes providers & caregivers. Register before April 3 to get early-bird rates!

Thanksgiving is arguably the most food-focused holiday, and conversations about food can be difficult to avoid. As a result, the holiday can cause anxiety for many living with diabetes. Setting healthy boundaries can help make comments about your food choices more manageable.
We’re kicking off this month's #ShowYourDiabetes community stories with a gem of a blog article from a fellow #t1d. “My body is not broken” – Reframe Diabetes https://t.co/lfx7gAHnpM
We often underestimate how much we already raise awareness by simply showing up with our #diabetes - whether that's with our technology and gadgets, #insulin regimes, highs/lows, or other diabetes routines. Throughout November, let's keep raising awareness using #ShowYourDiabetes
It’s #DiabetesAwarenessMonth and I’m super excited to *officially* launch our #ShowYourDiabetes project. This month, we’re aiming to reduce diabetes shame by collectively using our voices and sharing our stories around the prevalence of guilt and shame in the #diabetes community
On Tuesday, Senator Bernie Sanders rallied outside of PhRMA HQ to demand an end to profits over people.
In 2019, Sanders joined the Caravan to Canada organized by T1I #insulin4all MI and MN Chapters to highlight the fact that many are traveling across borders to afford insulin.
Having diabetes isn’t just about controlling your blood sugar. In my experience, it also means, when it comes to health issues of any kind, Murphy’s Law forever applies - if anything can go wrong, it will.
