Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula:
Ramaphosa asked me to go to Zimbabwe & use the aircraft.
Then Ramaphosa issued a statement giving me 48 hours to explain why I went to Zimbabwe & used the aircraft.
But I was sent by him.
I felt betrayed
Our position is that ZANU PF should withdraw the bill because it is flawed and the process has been flawed. If they don't then Let's have a REFERENDUM then. This is the message we are taking to all our local federations & international campaigns.
The CDF Convener Tendai Biti and Director of Programs Morgan Ncube have been detained by police in Mutare and have been charged with contravening MOPA by failing to notify police of a public meeting. They are likely to appear in court on Monday.
We note the solidarity recieved from various corners. Our programs will not be deterred by these illegal and unconstitutional restrictions. Operation Chiverevere is going to keep going until every Zimbabwean has been reached and understand that we cannot have a Mnangagwa dynasty in Zimbabwe.
Those in Mutare, your solidarity will be important as we continue to organize against the mutilation of our constitution!

Plea to Kenyan Authorities|
I have learnt with sadness that the authorities in #Kenya have had a misunderstanding with one of Africa's leading civil society leaders and pan-African luminary Brian Kagoro @TamukaKagoro77. I think that Kenya as an extremely important country in Africa and Brian Kagoro as a leader who deeply cares about Africa should resolve this issue quickly for mutual benefit and for the benefit of Africa. It cannot be an Africa we want when our systems close out our leaders from different sectors from interacting with each other and our societies. Such unproductive intra-Africa disagreements can only benefit other regions and deprive Africa from benefiting from our diversity and necessary differing views. I therefore plead with the Kenyan authorities to review their decision on Brian Kagoro.

No term extension without a referendum.
If leaders want longer terms, they must ask the people — not Parliament alone.
Respect the Constitution. Respect the vote.

Amnesty International Zimbabwe's board, staff, and members extend their deepest condolences to the Masuku family on the passing of John Masuku, a veteran broadcaster who dedicated his life to nurturing responsible and ethical journalism through training ,coaching and mentoring journalists. He will be remembered for sharing life-changing stories and cataloguing Zimbabwean life in the most creative and lasting way.
We mourn the loss of one of the most respected voices in Zimbabwe's media landscape, celebrated for his contributions to the work that influenced the licensing of community radio stations. His imprint remains in the contributions he made on policy formulation within the sector.
John also played a vital role serving as one of the pioneering adjudicators for the Amnesty International Zimbabwe Annual Media Awards, a role he carried out with his customary dignity and grace. We honour his service, mentorship, and legacy.
May his soul rest in peace.
To defend the country is to defend the Constitution. And to defend the Constitution is to defend the country. Anything else is political distraction (Dr. Phillan Zamchiya, 26 January 2026)
