The narrative around Cal AI getting pulled from the App Store misses the mark. It’s not about Stripe being "dangerous." It’s about Apple intentionally making alternative billing rules a confusing, opaque minefield. They design the guidelines so that stepping out of line is practically guaranteed.
Apple actively benefits from the mass hysteria and confusion every time an app gets booted. By keeping their enforcement vague and unpredictable, they turn every takedown into a warning. It’s a calculated move to scare developers away from ever trying to use alternative billing.
ZeroSettle (@ZeroSettle) is building a drop-in direct billing SDK for in-app purchases.
It takes 15 minutes to integrate instantly unlocks zero App Store fees, higher retention, and instant payouts.
Congrats on the launch, @gaberoeloffs & @relliott3131!

We’re sending out our first batch of fresh pressed juices to mobile app leaders (overnight ofc). QR code goes to calculator that shows how much “juice you can squeeze” by avoiding 30% Apple tax and using @zerosettle for in app purchases instead!
The times are changing for mobile game developers! Currently Apple and Google are at 0% fees for US transactions on competing payment systems, and no onerous restrictions or scare screens for directing customers to those payments.
Great details below -
I used to work in the Services org at Apple. Internally, it was taken for granted that the 30% App Store cut was “close to cost.”
Did some digging into it and this was the actual math:
Visa/Mastercard processing ~3%
Chargeback Fraud ~0.5%
Support/refunds labor cost ~1–2%
Billing/tax/compliance ~1%
Hosting/CDNs -2%
Call it ~8%.
Apple charges 30%. I'm no economist, but a > 70% operating margin feels more like rent than than the free market. That's almost ~20B profit, more than 5x what Starbucks does (and no coffee 😞)
Network fees are necessary, but exposing them isn’t. Requiring SOL to send USDC is like Venmo requiring a small euro balance to send dollars. Needs to be abstracted away or consumer crypto won’t scale.
me (putting index finger out): 1
you: counting on your fingers huh? classic
me (putting thumb out): 2
you: ok, a little weird
me (putting other index finger out): 3
you: that's not protocol
me (putting other thumb out): 4
you: stop that
me (pointing finger guns): no
@NepetaDev Hey, I’m developing a Spotify tweak right now and am wondering if you have any insight regarding a song’s metadata or how Spotify parses and interprets a song’s duration? I’m afraid I’m totally lost and am not familiar enough with Spotify’s headers
