Babies born in lockdown period less likely at 12 months to use single words, point or wave bye bye than previous cohorts. What are we doing DfE about the implications for very early 'catch up? 'https://t.co/vsHNtd2ip7
It’s great to see other schools embracing inquiry based CPD. We believe this is a transformational model for specialist settings too. @MrsBallAP@researchEDDur

" Classrooms are just too complicated for research ever to tell teachers exactly what to do. Teachers need to know about research, so that they can make smarter decisions about where to invest their time, but teachers & school leaders need to become critical..." @dylanwiliam 1/2
@LizLawr77719223 It has to go hand in hand with reading, so we explicitly teach targeted symbols/whole words and make sure chn have lots of practice. We convert reading books into CinP and literacy activities are built around chn matching, reading, selecting their target words/symbols
@LizLawr77719223 If it’s a fine motor difficulty, the Speed Up programme is very helpful - designed by OTs and features lots of practical exercises.
If it’s language, then Colourful Semantics is brilliant at helping chn build sentences.
@LizLawr77719223 Yes CinP. We’ve been trialling using it with a growing cohort for whom phonics just isn’t working. It is showing very promising results so far. We teach key words with their corresponding symbol, so initially chn do rely on the symbol, but, over time, they don’t need it anymore.
