@TfL who thought it would be a good idea to have The overground and Piccadilly suspended running through to Enfield for a whole weekend ? Normal trip takes 30 mins now its taking 1hour 30 mins...
@MikePannett This is just ridiculous, it'll never work... personally for me I work as control staff and do average of 5 x 12 hour shifts a week , even with my 5 days off I give at least two of them up to staff up response teams as they are so short.
@Beccy_1988 To be fair there has been some terrible incidents there the past few years namely the fatal stabbing of a 16 year old after a fight broke out
Emergency service worker. Working all Christmas this year: Xmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve & New Year's Day. Partner moaning about it, saying I'm caught every year & it's unfair. I actually volunteer. Prefer it to spending Xmas in their grim home town with their dull family
Google it...the amount of non police matters that come through on the 999 line is shocking ...personally I think the new comms from @MetCC is great but there needs to be more awareness pushed out to the public.
“It’s urgent for me, I can’t drive the car.”
If you can’t work out how to unplug your new electric car, do NOT call the police.
Please only call 999 only if a crime is in progress, there’s a threat to life, or someone is in immediate danger.
If it’s not an emergency, report online or call 101.
5 years ago, we woke up to the most devastating news imaginable.
A colleague, loved by so many in our organisation had been murdered in the line of duty.
His legacy, is one of pride & hopefulness for us all.
Remembering Sergeant Matiu Ratana today and always.

Off-Duty Metropolitan Police Officer and Retired Dog Detain Suspected Shoplifter in Swanscombe
An off-duty police constable and a retired police dog intervened to detain a suspected thief in Swanscombe, according to Kent Police.
The incident occurred on Sunday 14 September 2025. It is alleged that a member of staff at the Co-op in Ebbsfleet was threatened with a pair of scissors during an attempt to steal items worth around £90.
A Metropolitan Police constable, who was off duty at the time and walking a retired police dog, witnessed the incident and, along with the dog, intervened. Following a short pursuit, it is reported that the London officer was assaulted and spat on while he detained a suspect.
Kent Police patrols promptly attended the scene and a man was taken into custody.
Karook Abdullah, 22, of Leonard Avenue, Swanscombe, was later charged with several offences. These included theft, making threats whilst in possession of a pair of scissors, possession of a bladed article in a public place, and assault by beating. He was also charged with assaulting three emergency workers from Kent Police, criminal damage to a police vehicle, criminal damage to a custody cell, and four additional thefts at the Co-op that took place between 31 August and 9 September.
Abdullah appeared before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 16 September. He was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on a date yet to be confirmed.
How important do you think the continued vigilance of off-duty officers is in preventing and responding to crimes?

BREAKING - Scotland Yard confirms 140 arrests so far today on the first day of Notting Hill Carnival, almost 40 more than Sunday last year. 21 arrests were for the possession of offensive weapons, 15 for assaults on police.
And yet the @metpoliceuk has disbanded all wellbeing support hubs across the MPS and will lose the wellbeing dog function ( all two of us ) due to “ tough choices “ cuts.
Six suicides in the MPS so far this year ( that I am aware of )
No wonder officers struggle with their MH !
I thought officer and staff wellbeing was part of the Baroness Casey report ?? 🤔

While on patrol at 1am in Finchley, a Response Team clocked a vehicle driving around in circles, it had previously been linked to drug activity.
After a search, officers found 3 kilos of suspected Class A drugs and multiple burner phones. The driver is now serving 3 years behind bars.
@em_bulance The met actually have an operation for this called operation ringtone that targets stolen mobile phones/devices.. I would recommend calling on 101 and reporting this!
A service engineer finds £100,000 worth of cocaine hidden in a British Airways plane toilet while the Boeing 777 was undergoing routine checks in a hangar at Gatwick Airport.
The plane had recently touched down from Orlando, Florida, and the cocaine was spotted behind a panel in the toilet. The engineer called the police immediately and an investigation has now been launched by Border Force officials and the National Crime Agency. A source said the block of cocaine had been "well hidden" and was set to be retrieved by someone. They added that it was likely hidden by a member of staff.
The news comes just a day after it was revealed that a second British Airways Boeing 777 bound for London Gatwick was delayed for 24 hours in Cancun, Mexico, after local police found a stash of what appeared to be blocks of cocaine hidden in a suitcase onboard the plane.
Do you require a pizza delivery or the police?
