@griffingulledge@merelyjwright Griffin the thing that befuddles and amuses me is the talk among some about “the liberal wing” of the SBC and leftward drift at SEBTS. No offense meant, Jeff, but you should have been st SEBTS when I was in the 80s. Then you’d know what “leaning left” means.
@JohnKaleo@thee_ppd@jm_larue@jrwhitehead@BaptistLeaders Actually I’m not asking anybody to trust those around me. I never brought up Tom Stolle or Bill Warren. Others did attempting to disprove my assertion. What either of them did or didn’t do is irrelevant to my argument. I’m just sharing how things played out from my front row seat
@JohnKaleo@thee_ppd@jm_larue@jrwhitehead@BaptistLeaders Again, not intending to be evasive, but that’s not my concern or focus. I don’t intend to expend any energy on that. I’m just arguing that as the Pres of the Mission Board at that time I was NEVER pressured by NAMB to fire Will or lose $. Will’s narrative about that is false.
@JohnKaleo@thee_ppd@jm_larue@jrwhitehead@BaptistLeaders Our current Exec is one of my closest friends so I’d tread lightly on what you say about him. He has more integrity than you and me put together. Any discussion of what he meant or said is best had with him, not me. Was that what he meant or what you interpret? I don’t know.
@JohnKaleo@thee_ppd@jm_larue@jrwhitehead@BaptistLeaders I’ve never felt NAMB has any control
over BCMD nor have I ever experienced them trying to exert any. That said, they do have the right to modify their level of support. It’s their $$. Which is what they did toward the end of Will’s tenure.
@JohnKaleo@thee_ppd@jm_larue@jrwhitehead@BaptistLeaders And frankly, I don’t care what NAMB claims about employee’s sep agreements. It’s not my concern. I care mostly about my org, the BCMD and the false narrative presented about it. Which is why I began responding. Ten yrs of false narrative is far too much.
@JohnKaleo@thee_ppd@jm_larue@jrwhitehead@BaptistLeaders Not trying to dodge that - just being honest here. I’ve never thought much about that. NAMB is a supporting org of EVERY state Conv to a degree. Does that give them control? No! Each org is autonomous. The support and cooperation are voluntary. That’s a Baptist principle.
@jrwhitehead@thee_ppd@JohnKaleo@jm_larue@BaptistLeaders If people want to continue talking about the ongoing beef b/t Will and NAMB, that’s fine … I just wanna see the “NAMB’s involvement led to Will’s termination from BCMD” talk stop because it wasn’t anywhere near that simple!
@jrwhitehead@thee_ppd@JohnKaleo@jm_larue@BaptistLeaders The relationship with NAMB was definitely broken. But that alone would have NEVER led to Will’s termination. The other issues that existed, which were significant, did.
@JohnKaleo@calvindanielsll@jrwhitehead@BaptistLeaders I’ve never said NAMB does no wrong. There are things I’d like to see different. All I’m saying here is they didn’t pressure us to fire Will. I know he’s convinced you otherwise, but he is wrong! I’ll credit Will for successfully painting a 10 yr false narrative.
@JohnKaleo@thee_ppd@jm_larue@jrwhitehead@BaptistLeaders I haven’t refused to answer your questions. I just don’t live on X like some of you do and am not really super familiar with/ it. If I’ve missed a direct question, I apologize. I HAVE read them. And nobody who knows our Exec would question his integrity. It’s impeccable.
@jrwhitehead@thee_ppd@JohnKaleo@jm_larue@BaptistLeaders Jon, I sat in the mtg where funding was reduced. A month later (can’t remember timing) we took the action to terminate. If the loss of funding influenced that, it was only minimally b/c the issues were numerous. There was no talk of restored funding at that point. That came later
@thee_ppd@JohnKaleo@jm_larue@jrwhitehead@BaptistLeaders Good job. Now admit you could be wrong about Will. At least aspects of it. I can’t speak to everything with NAMB. Only to the fact there was no pressure to fire him or lose $ which is all I’ve been arguing all along.
