@benjyminty @BCCletts @willnorman TfL's contactless/Oyster system is superb. But separate charges for rail/bus/cycle hire limits choices for last-mile. Many European cities do a flat fare for 60 minutes on all modes of transport - that could include cycle hire :)

Train Operating Companies are paid to run trains to a contractual schedule and price list pledged in the franchise bid. Nobody is bothered about filling all the empty seats on off-peak trains.

@ZoneOContention @BBCSheffield Accident rates increased as usage increased: 50% more cyclists + 30% more pedestrians. They are the safest, most efficient junctions possible without tunnels/bridges. Cambridge and the Dutch are constantly reviewing it.
