@davidbrochart @pypyproject A WASM backed for PyPy would be very interesting, but I expect it would be better to start fresh than to try to re-use much of the actual code from PyPy.js.

@davidbrochart @pypyproject It would be fun to revisit! One of the reasons that PyPy.js ran out of steam, was that it was clear WASM would replace asm.js so we'd need to rewrite a lot of things, but WASM itself wasn't ready enough at the time.

@pwang @chrisjrn @ramalhoorg @pyscript_dev @garybernhardt I agree, C extensions was a big missing piece, particularly access to the Python data stack which makes for some compelling concrete use-cases.

@chrisjrn @pyscript_dev As you point out, download size remains an issue, but I remain optimistic that it will be less and less of an issue over time just from incremental improvements. WASM helps here, CPython helps here, but no silver bullet.

@chrisjrn @pyscript_dev (I'll admit that getting the PyPy JIT to emit JS was by far the most *fun* part of PyPy.js, but probably not key to making something broadly useful)

@chrisjrn @pyscript_dev I also suspect that using cpython rather than PyPy has turned out to be a good choice - download size will be smaller and easier to control, and speed improvements on both sides make the JIT aspects less important.
